The reason many routine posters of this thread are vanished and not to be see.

To post something on the topic, the third squadron is to be raised by mid-September to mid-October. It can happen anytime soon.

As for Block 2, it has no major upgrades, as the public were expecting. It shall be out by first quarter of 2013.

The public is only interested in sensationalism..
not what those that know have been stating for the past 6 months.

Have they removed anything from the B II upgrade package?

Nothings been removed.. Only the baseless sensationalist stuff wont be coming.
Something Ive been stating for almost a yr now..
After all.. the Dir Ops of the Jf-17 should know whats coming and whats not.. Id rather listen to him than sensationalist sources.

All that is different in the Block-II (its called batch 2 by almost all those who work in the JF-17 program)
are electronic tweaks and a Fixed Air refuelling probe.

Hi,

Thank you for your post---people don't understand and neither they want to---that you just don't change the instrumentations and technologies of a fighter jet just like that---you are just begining to learn how to fly and operate this aircraft---you have just learnt to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of this aircraft---now you are learning how to manipulate these assets to your advantage---by learning to fly and operate this aircraft to its maximum able capabilitiy---which in itself is a herculean task for an air force like the pakistani air force---and the designer like the chinese to satisfy the quality and operational capability of a very highly demanding air force like that of pakistan.

The second batch would be and should be slightly complimentary to the first one---because you need the same operators of the first batch to get into the second batch and make a smooth tansition plus a little improvement here and a little improvement there---other than that there is not much to be done.

Now when you get to the 101st aircraft---then you may say okay----here are some major changes---but for now----the first 100 need to be more similiar than not.

People also arent getting the point of the JF-17.. its not designed to do everything or find a single person sitting on the ground through sophisticated electronics. IT was designed with the sole objective of giving the PAF a BVR capable defence fighter with the least cost possible.. LEAST COST POSSIBLE. It is because of this that the PAF will be able to procure them in numbers and be able to provide a viable air defence against an already overwhelming threat.

If the PAF wanted all the stealth, AESA, TVC etc etc from it.. then the LEAST COST POSSIBLE goes to hell. After all, its a proportional relationship between cost and features. So the 2nd batch starts with features that will also be transplanted into the first..
which are better electronics and A2A refuelling.

Is it electronics as in their hardware or just the software tweaks?

My only question is if third squadron is not based on Block-II (Batch-II) then why its induction is taking so long? anyone.

Both. Integration of new chip-set and microprocessors are part of on going development process. If some big change occurs, its gradually implemented in the operational aircraft. Even the new Block-I JF-17s are "marginally" better than the ones in service...but that doesn't matter, overall characteristics of one batch remains the same.

A simple answer, new PAF command, new policies. JF-17 quality and maturity first, squadron count second:D

Dam, first it was 2012 then mid of 2012 now start of 2013 when i,ll be married and have kids then they are going to lanuch the block 2 version i waiting so long and still waiting anyways hope for best

What does that mean?!?! Shouldn't it be 'MORE venomous than ever'?

Not that our side always gets it right. The worst name for a squadron would be the Indian Navy's "Black Panthers" !!! I mean, what other colour do panthers come in?

More Venomous means: Previously it was operating an old age attack aircraft A5 which was a poor 3 Gen aircraft as compare to 4 Gen Multirole Thunder.

and about panther, It comes in Black black panther cat - Google Search
and
in Standard JF-17 Colour Scheme JF- 17 black panther - Google Search

Albino.. and the JF-17 second squadron is also called "Black Panthers"..
Apparently.. our folks like the sound of "Black".. they just dont like their female counterparts that way.
Also.. the Black Panther is actually applied to a variety of cats like the Jaguar, Cougar or Leopard.
So it would not be that bad had it been a Jaguar Squadron.

The next slated JF-17 squadron is almost done with its training, the lack of a two seater is showing since even with an advanced simulator.. the pilots have a generation gap(or even two in some cases) to complete.
