i don't know the credibility but if its true than :victory::victory::victory:

Despite Bharati propoganda, there is no issue of getting RD-93 engines from Russia. The successful trials of WS-13 have already happened last year, and there are JF-17 Thunder prototypes flying with WS-13s. Pakistan is also building a version of WS-13 which would be totally indigenous. The JF-17 Thunder will be built in blocks of 50

I like the confidence and pray what you are saying is correct....However just an FYI

- We had Kargil in 1999
- We had an almost 8 months long standoff b/w PA and IA in 2003
- Mumbai attack brought us pretty close to war....

So in short unless and until tensions pacify you always have a chance of war.....

Hi Mastan, i know your question was directed towards Sir Nabil however i am taking the liberty to answer :undecided:

As far as i know It's not a true fire and forget missile, SD10A has a mode where it can be launched as a fire and forget missile if proximity of target is over a short distance. Basically in this mode missile's active radar terminal guidance activates upon launch and homes in to the target. Launching aircraft can exit the fight immediately after launching SD10A in this mode. Full range of SD10A cannot be exploited in this mode!

SD10A also has passive radiation homing seeker which activates in terminal phase if target is trying to jam the missile, in this case missile does not use its active radar or its platforms radar and homes in to radiation emitting source i think its called the hom on jam mode. Combination of active radar homing and radiation homing makes SD10's kill probability very high. AMRAAM and MICA also employs the same tech.

If the target is 90-100+ kms away than SD10A is first guided via data link than inertial guidance kicks in followed by terminal stage where it is completely autonomous.

Thanks for your answer---let me re-phrase the question in a different manner---does the aircraft have to follow the missile after the launch or it change direction---which mean---does the aircraft has to point towards the enemy aircraft to keep the missile lock.

Yups Sir, till the missile comes within the range for the missiles own active radar seeker, it has to be guided by the launching aircraft's radar and for that the aircraft needs to be in a position to keep the target within its own radar and that would depend on the ability of the pilot to keep his radar pointed towards the area where the radar scan is and mostly it would be straight or some degrees left and right of the radar.

It is most often used during the terminal phase of the engagement, mainly because since the radar transceiver has to be small enough to fit inside a missile and has to be powered from batteries, therefore having a relatively low ERP, its range is limited. To overcome this, most such missiles use a combination of command guidance with an inertial navigation system (INS) in order to fly from the launch point until the target is close enough to be detected and tracked by the missile. The missile therefore requires guidance updates via a datalink from the launching platform up until this point, in case the target is maneuvering, otherwise the missile may get to the projected interception point and find that the target is not there. Mind yoy missiles will be guided by the mother aircraft to a certain distance before the guidance is taken over by your AWACS. Missile's guidance system will then guide it to the target in the last stage.

Sir, can't this feature be also provided to ground based 3D radars, in case non availability of an AEW&C around, the aircraft launches a missile and the GCS take over and guide it through their 3D radars to the target or near enough the target.

If data link can be provided with AEW&Cs, then why not data link it to GCS ??

Pakistan seeks buyers for JF-17 Thunder jets

An official told Dawn on Saturday that funds generated through the sale of the combat aircraft would be used in efforts to modernise Pakistan Air Force which was already emerging as a potent outfit with the recent induction of force multipliers.

He said that besides Turkey, some countries of the Middle East and Africa were taking keen interest in acquisition of the aircraft.

He said that two JF-17 Thunder aircraft of the PAF, manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, had flown to the United Kingdom to participate in the forthcoming Farnborough Air Show 2010, scheduled to be held between July 19 and 25.

The JF-17 Thunder is an all-weather and multi-role combat aircraft that has potential to be the mainstay of any modern air force.

The sources said the serial production of JF-17 Thunder had already started and ultimately some 250 aircraft would be inducted in the fighter fleet of the PAF.



The first squadron of JF-17 has already joined the fighter fleet and the second squadron will be inducted by the end of the year.

They said the PAF had invested in the force multipliers like air-to-air refuellers, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft to enhance its capacity and capability to undertake complex operations.

He said that efforts to enhance capacity of the PAF would continue in the wake of growing importance of air power which played a vital and decisive role in war situations.

The source observed that participants of the Farnborough Air Show would prove to be a good forum for interacting with people interested in JF-17 Thunder and booking orders for supply of the potent combat aircraft.

The Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) is one of the world’s most iconic global aviation events.

FIA holds a prominent position in the aerospace calendar taking place on a biennial basis (once every two years) over one week in July.

The first five days of the show are traditionally trade days only, followed by a weekend where the exhibition is opened up to the public.

The most recent airshow, FIA 2008, was a record-breaking year for business with $88.7 billion worth of orders announced during the show.

The 2008’s event featured 165 aircraft in static displays and spectacular flying displays and the public weekend attracted a staggering 153,000 visitors. The upcoming Farnborough International Airshow is certain to be the most exciting to date.

With its existing exhibition halls, flying displays and UAV pavilion, FIA 2010 will evolve its business theme to include a number of new networking initiatives such as a themed conference and seminar programme, a ‘meet your buyer’ event and a day dedicated to the International Futures for Youth.

Additionally, FIA 2010 will feature a dedicated ‘Space Zone’ and enhanced UAV presence.

1. As long as the USA needs Pakistan in its war against Terrorist of Afghanistan, India dare not touch Pakistan nor make any funny moves.
2. In the current situation, India dare not start any war with China, neither the USA. To maintain current situation without a war, China is going to be strong enough to counter USA in twenty or thirty years and therefore China has no intention to spoil the situation.
3. In conclusion, PAF think tanks know this, the Chinese think tanks know this and the India think tanks also know this. There will be no war.
4. Every one is making use of this peace dividend to build up their strength but going on different path. China prefers to develop its own military development and production capacity. Pakistan does not has the same resource so they decided to follow the Chinese way but integrate western technology. The Indian, despite they have the resource and assistant from western techs, selected to mainly rely on imports for their military needs. That is because their generals want it that way.
5. I strongly believe, riding on the JF-17 program, Pakistan would be much better off than pay dearly for western gadgets and expensive maintenance. The best way to counter MKI is to play it right so that the Afghanistan and Terrorist problem of USA linger on for as long as possible. Fighting a much richer and stronger adversary is best with political way rather than military one.

Secondly---india won't restrain itself---regardless if the u s needs pak or not---.

As a matter of fact it would be with the blessings of the U S---and for the world----it would be good riddance pakistan---the world is tired of pakistan and its shenanigans---there is nobody left who has any sympathy for us---and none will come to our funeral with moist eyes.

A better and easier solution would have been to strike hard and eep at the terrorists and take them out to bring peace to the region.

Peace has better rewards than wars.
