JF-17 Thunder - Information Pool

What the question being asked is not about testing equipment but entire end to end of aeronautical design, material testing, wind tunnel design etc.
and all that was basically done by CHINA. thats quite depressing . i hear all the time in the media how pakistan developed an aircraft by itself with the help of china .they made it really overrated

its a very very very long read
you will need a hell lot of patience for this

this is thread no 6, you will find the previous thread links in this

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/jf-17-thunder-multirole-fighter-thread-7.427560/
thank you ! im sure ill manage the long read .

since this aircraft is already overrated .I've heard quite alot of rumours regarding the PAK-CHINA JF17 development .saying stuff like PAKISTAN did not manage to do anything .the design was articulated by a chinese engineer . and all the parts of the THUNDER are imported from china .also saying that SINCE it was supposed to be copy of the F16 .pakistan only contributed in sharing some of its pilot experience . so just.... rumours or the cold truth?

Truth is American (northrop grumman), Chinese (chengdu aircraft complex), Russian (Mikoyan) and Pakisrani (Pakistan Aeronautical Complex) designers all played part in this aircraft's initial development in 90s when it was known as Project saber II. Later renamed project super 7.

But after pakistan's announcement of nuclear status american put sanctions on pakistan and American companies european companies and russians backed off, also one factor was american sanctions on china after tianmen square incident american gruman comoany left in early 90s because of sanctions on china.

Since pakistan and china care very less about united states sanctions and there is no way to monitor what happens between two asian countries china and paksitan. These two countries continued the development and super 7 evolved into Jf 17 with chinese and pakistani investment and designers.

Jf 17 has 100% input from pakistan air force pilots. Only aircraft in the world designed for the airc force by an air force.

Everything jf 17 thunder has is whar pakistan air force pilots ever wanted in an aircraft with Block III being the best of all desires of PAF pilots.

Its an aircraft initially designed by Russia united states and china .As super 7. Then after 2000s updated by pakistan air force and chinese engineers of 3 aviation companies in china. With the cheif designer yang wei being the head of chengdu aircraft company in Chengdu city china. This firm also designed and produced chinese stealth aircraft j-20 , and a chinese medium combat aircraft known as J-10, JF 17 shares many technologies with J10 of chinese air force.

But J10 is a step up from jf 17.

Success of jf 17 proves next pakistani aircraft should be made with direct input from pakistan air force keeping in mind what pilots of pakistan air force want. Rather than what govt wants or aircraft design engineers want.

i see .thats new information

That is very correct; it has been outsourced venture. there is around 58% fabrication but nothing else from R&D is done in Pk.
We simply don't have sufficient body of scientific pool, aerospace engineers, avioncs engineers, physicists, metallurgists etc and the breadth/depth of industry to sustain such ventures. Forget aircraft which represents upper tier of human ingenuity we have not even mastered middle tier like car design/manufacturing. Thus we are forced to depend on Chinese to provide the basics while we add some bling art like those Pakisatani trucks.

The reason for this is too many of our people fantasize about the after life, piety and religion and not enough on mundane things like sciences. You can see what % of our population is in madaris and what % is in universties doing science degrees. In countries like Russia, US, China it's the other way around. A tiny shred of a % are chasing god at seminaries but huge % are at university doing sciences.

Let's assume that even if JF-17 is designed, researched and manufactured in China - the skills which applied to transform this platform effectively were only from PAF and In-Shaa-Allah will further improve.

i see .thats new information

Its not new u can visit jf 17 thunder pages on this forum pdf also this much info is available on Wikipedia public page i didnt give you any info which is not publically available.

There are a good few surprises jf 17 has hidden from public.

Since you joined Forum newly so I will give it to that for once. It will be appreciated to search, read & go through threads separately available in this section alone that contains a lot of information in this regards. There is no need to post a new thread for few questions that are already discussed with every detail available in public domain along with analysis provided by respectable members. The suspecious info you posted is mostly the work of keyboard warriors on FB or Youtube etc.

Regards,

I read this thread and others about JF17 but there isnt much information out there on Blk3 and what stage the production etc is in. Could anyone link me to an article or forum where I can read about that.

i apologise for writing something that already existed .its a little hard to scavenge the information you need with threads more than 500 pages long .

Hi,

Welcome to the forum---.

Air Marshall Shahid Latif's---head of JF17 program is here onyoutube and on pdf---search and listen---you will have your answer---.

MK, This has been a 3 decade struggle involving hundreds of professionals at different stages which is still in progress. Besides don't forget Russian timely assistance which is still an essential rrquirement. Perhaps this is why 2nd aircraft was conveniently dropped-off from the press conference!!

I think China should give PAF samples of both the PL-10 and PL-15 so that we can battle test them against the IAF. They will gain valuable knowledge and experience through this. We know the PL-5 and SD-10A have worked very well and we have lots of data from that encounter we can use for further analysis.

Although as an outsider and being with no evidence, I still think it is quite possible and the delivery could come with JF-17 Block III. PL-10's long shooting range and infrared imaging seeker is extraordinarily lethal and I hope JF-17 can get some of them. Another solution could be developing a new PL-5 variant with an imaging seeker as PL-10 might be too heavy to JF-17.

Pakistan arm force has access to many PLA projects and command systems even though no one would publicly admit that. One good example is the new truck mounted howitzer being tested in Pakistan.

A truck mounted howitzer tested in Pakistan. It is not the export version SH-15 of such kind of howitzers. It is just a PLC-181 directly sourced from PLA.

Below is a SH-15. Although inside I believe it is actually the same thing, the looking is still slightly different, not only on the shape of the head, but also the way the 2 doors open on each side.

Based on such observation in the past, I'd like to think that JF-17 Block III will be a highly interesting aircraft. Its capability and new generation payloads could be some surprise to us.
