Pakistan acquires air-launched SOM capability - Jane's Missiles and Rockets
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officials have disclosed the existence of a new Chinese-developed air-to-surface Stand-Off Missile (SOM) that will equip the PAF's JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft.

The weapon, designated CM-400AKG, is said to be a land-attack variant of the CASIC C-802 (YJ-82) anti-ship missile which has already been integrated on the JF-17. Jane's assesses that 'CM-400AKG' is, therefore, an export label for the CM-802AKG land-attack weapon that was first seen at the November 2010 Air Show China event.

If you are talking about using TV footage of Maverick as nearly FLIR, then its not the real solution. Anything not in Line of Sight of the aircraft will not visible on screen; plus by the time pilot is getting target(s) identification using that method some other ground air defence system will pop up as imminent threat...and C-802 series has no EO/IR sensor.

Hi Najam sir,

Perhaps i mixed C-802 naval version with Air launch version.....???
Naval version does have interchangeable sensors.
There was a mention of "Maverick like" capabilities of Naval version in an article..

If you have info about what type of sensors can be used in C-802AK and the implications, please add here,as you always do.

Regards..

Regarding C-802 seeker options, I believe there is too much mis-information on internet, the basic anti ship version may not have such multiple seekers. People have mixed basic -802A with KD-88/C-802AK etc. The IR/TV guided missile (also used by Iran under the name of Nasr) is C-704KD; an air-launched missile. Now its much improved versions C-705KD/705 missile are also developed by China.

The 'maverick' like use is just a myth, A-10s are believed to have used AMG-65 in some missions during Gulf war ;but that can never replace the true capabilities of FLIR.

Its like that you have a camera in your phone, you can take clear photos up to 30-50 ft, but when you want to capture something beyond 100-400ft you would need a proper camera, with bigger lens. Similarly, a dedicated FLIR pod will enhance ground picture to much detail and in any weather (be it day or night).

Stop copy pasting the info pool in every forum as i've seen certain members are doing this quite blatantly and comprehensively ---- Ive worked very hard on this thread , forget about crediting me .. you are also making those fora reputable at the expanse of my thread and this forum

while copy pasting you are even copy pasting my statements like '' post left free for further additions'' and defence.pk perma links that i've added initially ---- this is a shameless behaviour , posting this info without crediting orginal posters/compilers/translators/forum

If you think compiling this stuff was an easy job , you should start from scratch yourself without downplaying my contribution on various indian/pak forums --- go bookmark 12+ chinese sites and use google translate to find good info to post here like i've done

The alkalid info pool is also being shamelessly copy pasted by the same members
