JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

The information on the Azerbaijan deal has some elements that are strange.
The claim is that they are already delivered, but why show PAF aircraft at ADEX in Baku? I think they have yet to be built...

Also, is this 'confirmation' from PAF is available in public domain somewhere? In a government channel? The only thing I can find (as you can read on PAC's thread) that the Pakistani JF-17 Block-III was presented to the president of Azerbaijan. No word on any deal there.

Strangely the Azerbaijani claim that these already in service in Azerbaijan ("The jets have already been integrated into the arsenal of Azerbaijan's Air Force.") Surely someone would have seen them flying around at Kamra before that?

So this still is a historic deal, but I want to see them flying before I believe it, or am I simply to skeptical? 8-)

Bangladeshi Professor Dr. Shahiduzzaman has stirred controversy by advocating for Bangladesh to procure three squadrons of JF-17 fighter jetsfrom Pakistan. In a recent viral video, he emphasized the need for Bangladesh to enhance its military capabilities in light of perceived threats from India. Dr. Shahiduzzaman compared the JF-17, a Chinese-Pakistani co-produced aircraft, to the American F-35, claiming that it offers similar advanced capabilities at a significantly lower cost.

Advocacy for JF-17 Procurement

Dr. Shahiduzzaman's remarks come amidst growing tensions in South Asia, particularly between Bangladesh and India. He suggested that acquiring the JF-17 jets would bolster Bangladesh's defense posture and provide a counterbalance to India's military strength. The professor's call for military modernization reflects a shift in rhetoric, as he has also previously proposed that Bangladesh consider signing a nuclear treaty with Pakistan.

Support for Separatist Movements

In addition to advocating for the JF-17 acquisition, Dr. Shahiduzzaman controversially urged the Bangladeshi government to support separatist movements in India's northeastern states, such as Assam and Manipur. He argued that aiding these groups could serve as a strategic move against India, which he perceives as a threat to Bangladesh's sovereignty.

Context of Bangladesh-India Relations

Historically, Bangladesh has maintained a non-confrontational stance towards India, focusing on cooperation despite occasional tensions over border security and water-sharing issues. However, Dr. Shahiduzzaman's statements reflect a growing sentiment among certain factions within Bangladesh that advocate for a more assertive foreign policy, particularly in relation to India. The professor's comments have sparked debate within Bangladesh about the implications of such military acquisitions and support for insurgent groups. Critics warn that these actions could destabilize regional relations and provoke retaliation from India.

Conclusion

Dr. Shahiduzzaman's advocacy for procuring JF-17 fighter jets from Pakistan and supporting separatist movements in India highlights the complexities of South Asian geopolitics. As Bangladesh navigates its defense strategy amid rising tensions with India, the implications of such proposals will require careful consideration by policymakers to maintain stability in the region while addressing national security concerns.
