JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

I find it extremely concerning that given the development of the JF17 and its induction to the PAF for the past 12 years, that the PAF still lack confidence in it's ability to replace the Mirage III which was the main purpose of this machine despite inducting near 100 of these fighters we still have young pilots staking there lives on machinery which is in an air force museum for most countries. Do u mean to tell me that the F7Pg is a better interceptor then the JF17, and the mirage 3 is overall better then the JF17?

Get your facts in order first about what JF-17 has replaced already.

Paf will replace them soon. It's a fighter plane so it will take a while. Paf has so faar replaced all f7s with the JF17. The F7PG has an old frame and tech but it was built around 17 years ago. Even the JF17 is around 12years old so not faar off.

Soon their should be Paf announcement of another squadron of JF17 block 2 and then block 3 will come. 100 JF17 block 3 should replace the Mirages 3 and F7PGs. The mirage 5 replacement is a ? for me. I am either waiting for 5th generation plane or medium weight plane. Fingers crossed :)

Older aircraft wing strengthen to add 550 lb lgb on outer pylon then jf can get one to carry SD-10 which weighs less plus pylon weight

This would give jf std 4 pylons for aam s plus remaining for atg or drop tanks

One additional under intake opposite to gun for ldp or even two under intake like j-10 for ldp and jamming pod

So total 4 x2 plus 3 total 11 stations for max load of 43/4500 kg, may not be always be the case

Point being like f-16 it has enough wing span to accommodate an additional pylon under and wings and like j-10/f-16 under intake

Even f-104 which was pure interceptor was LaTer mod but I think due to smaller wing area, the wing loading went high and was overkill

What this would do to maneuverability, anyone can see. Using piloted aircraft as bomb trucks is hugely inefficient. Every single pilot must be utilized for air superiority. A much more efficient model is to use the Thunder as escorts, or forward guards for a slower transport aircraft that can launch PGMs and cruise missiles from stand-off ranges.

I am OK with having one more pylon because it makes more ammo available for A2A. So an ideal load would be 4+2 or even 8+2 if possible with dual racks for BVR + WVR.
