JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

So that prove you have, Zarvan always bring unreliable news on PDF, he also claims i thinks 2 years back that we are going to buy Su-35/T-90s and stuff from Russia and its was almost done deal , so where Su-35/T-90s are, and don't bring News channels articles especially pakistani news channels they are quite retards on reporting on defense matters

its mentioned in the video. JF17 is compared with PAF current block 52 fighters
but block-2/1/3 can't be compare with F-16, who is comparing JF-17 and F-16 is really stupid, because they both sits in different classes/categories

Brother in today's world, quality matters over quantity. Look at the construction of the aircraft. Trust me, no one buys this. I met one of the USAF officers last year. He told me that he thoroughly inspects with his clan. He told me exactly the same thing that boy quality always matters when you go International in today's world. The aircraft has many issues, third-party engine including some aerodynamics (which was interesting), despite all, though the aircraft seems somehow competent again "Somehow" capable to defend the skies against the 3.5 Gen fighters but if you're expecting that your aircraft gonna get order (order doesn't someone rent it out or put order of 2 3 aircraft i.e, Nigeria, Myanmar etc), you have to be very careful in terms of construction quality. The one built-in "China" has better quality as compare to this one (UAE Air show) which is built-in Pakistan. There are many complications because of global power politics, aircraft quality & capability, engine performance and the top of it, military hardware and marketing is indeed a tough job in today's competitive market. This aircraft might take 2+ more decades or even more to get some reasonable older else seems like your airforce core focus was to accommodate replacements (Trust me he doesn't even know that the aircraft was an actual replacement of our 70% of AF fleet (A5/f7). One of my relatives who is working in the Boeing Germany told me exactly the same thing (design flaws, aircraft construction, name of few).

We must understand that the aircraft is POORLY designed (I have heard the similar kind of vibe from even our airforce officers including those who went to the US on different programs and also participated in Red Flag exercises).

Its a general perspective. Now why I don't like, these are some of the points which enhancing my hate for this aircraft but one thing which I believe, not every aircraft become Lockheed F16 and Mig29. These two aircraft designs are a MAJOR factor of its selling point and still rule among all from the past 5 decades. JF17 is pathetically, poorly designed aircraft seems like 70s look and feel and rest the last nail in the coffin "built quality". Not everything is avionics, the US has spent billions of dollars on the designs program of F22, B52, B2, etc same did by the Russians.

The counter-argument against my perspective is pure bullshit and trust me I never respond nor interested if the person doesn't understand the importance of "DESIGN". Usually the counter-response on my criticism on JF17 "If the aircraft serve the purpose......." that's enough for us. We are stuck in this kind of mind-set the reason we are FAILED to sell this aircraft even though there is NO SUCH COMPETITOR at this time of JF17 in the market at this price.

Look at the B version. More like a trainee aircraft (pregnant). No one uses such kind of bulky dual seater shit against the 4.5 5 Gen in the combat theater. The aircraft looks like someone modifying old vintage shit dinky. Imagine, you're extended Suzuki Dabba just to make something like limouse, eek din bas hojani hey ismay 2 X kay baad 4 X ka missile rack laga kar akar kitna modify karlengay isko? lol.

I knew since DAY ONE that DG ISPR lying with the public. Actually he intentionally did that. We are desperate to sell this aircraft that was the core reason of his lies. Guess what, we slowly gradually changed our stance from JF17 to F16 story (a reference to 27 Feb event). You hardly see any prominent information or ref of Jf17 even in the PAF museum about Op Swift. Anyway, the point I'm making is, we have to show and built something which serves the FUTURE. This construction quality and the design won't work in the modern world. You can integrate avionics but aerodynamics, shape, built quality, frame matters a lot.

@MastanKhan

I agree the design needs to be upgraded to reach something close to Gripen. This is something which is a disappointing because we are using 1980s design and fitting the latest technology inside it.

I trust paf knows more than us but it's just a opinion and it would be a big challenge to sell it in big numbers. I wish PAF well and good luck :)

Popular saying... if you want to guage your economy, go and buy yourself... you don't need statistics to know-how about the GDP ... mainly stats based on MACRO not micro which is 80% of your actual economy.... simply... aerodynamic engineering is a broad spectrum of things.. a broad term... in fact a vogue... there are hundred thousand things evolve around. Simply, if the Vstab 90 was fine, what was the purpose of changing the stabilizer @ JFB ? again the BLK 3 has to have a straight stabilizer... it's not "AESTHETICS" that's what I was trying to tell. Its a poorly design aircraft hope you get my point now... if the tunnel test was fine with BLK 1 and BLK II why you have changed the design of VS of Version B? and if you have changed the design because of different tunnel tests or reasons, again why you put the BLK III stabilizer design with the old one?

Again I don't know why they did that, what was the results of tests and all. I must say .... you know that... what I am gonna say....
I agree i had this suspician all along jf17 just has plastic bombs..no wonder myanmar and nigerian were angry..they were surprised how we pulled one with them

Oh and USA armed forces have foolish generals who are worried about plastic pl15

It was posted by @airomerix few days ago, probably many havn't read that,i am reposting it.
I saw a few guys claiming block 3 having a different design and hardpoints. That is not all the case.

JF-17 Block 3 is IDENTICAL to block 2 in almost all aspects externally.

The major differences include;

1) Revamped software to support and handle a variety of missions (ie. SEAD/DEAD)
2) New weapons such as PL-15, RAAD will be the highlights for block 3.
3) Improved engine performance. Turbines have been reworked to produce added thrust.
4) AESA radar (cannot disclose which one)
5) Turkish EW suite
6) Strengthened abdomen and wing roots to carry heavy weapons such as RAAD and PL-15s.
7) Recc pods will be fully operational.
8) Upgraded Link capability similar to F-16s. All JF-17s are able to communicate with SAAB's securely. Each JF-17 pilot would know what other JF-17 can see and what he is up to in a given mission. What are his fuel levels, what is the status of his weapons. It's a fully integrated system just like F-16's link 16 which Wg Cmdr Nouman Ali Khan leveraged to execute a mission beautifully.

In other words, IAF will be faced Block 52 category weapons systems that too in mass numbers in just 5 years from now. Production of Block 2 is slowing down and Block 3 will be produced from February 2020 at PAC.

The first two Block 3's are currently undergoing FCFs (functional check flights) and are expected to join PAF in February 2020.

On the export side, 08 Block 2's are to be delivered to Nigeria in 2020. Qatar and Malaysia are eyeing for Block 3.

In a nutshell, JF-17 program has been a blessing for Pakistan Air Force. Its only a matter of time when we will have access to EU hardware. The Block 4 is already on the charts and it will be nothing short of a Rafale as far as current plans are concerned.

I would be shitting my pants if I was IAF

Pakistan will have to increase block3 production to fulfill domestic and international orders.
If PAF is thinking about block 4, it won't be ready until 2025. I hope that it's redesigned to look more like 4.5 generation fighter.

If Jf17 is better than our block 15s or mirage 5 then on February 2019 we would have used jf17s to shoot Indian jets but instead it was the 1980s f16s and 1960s mirage 5.
Thunders did both role. Escorts and bombing as far as I have heard

We have a few places where we can verify whether the aircraft really involved in the leading role or not. Involved doesn't mean that the aircraft was not taking part. I am sure IL78, AWACS, and many other aircraft were involved, the point is who was on the lead role? ... now at the moment, we've options to verify the first one is the monument, no name of JF17 thr mainly which aircraft shot down the enemy migs and the second is your PAF museum where you have full details about operation Op swift... now what source you have?

justifications are irrelevant, PAF not sure whether the aircraft really capable to handle the situation or not, the entire skies were full of F16s + Delta @ lead role and JF17s @ second third tier....

When you don't have faith on your machine, you miserably FAILED in your claim which you did with specific intend (mainly to sell your product which is not compatible or capable whatsoever the reason in the int market). Later you changed your story and published the REAL one in which no name of JF17. Accept the fact!
Let me help you with that ... unless you excluded this image from the said museum on purpose, in which case shame on you.

You also somehow selectively left out these two from your post, which indicates to me that you only want to hear your own views somehow reinforced, instead of the inconvenient truth?

lol I was expecting this ... read my para again...

Yeah, the "lead" role ... as you put it, split between JF-17, F-16 and Mirage Vs. Read the ops description again.

Actually I would argue the lead role was with Mirages and JF-17s since the actual mission was the bombing run, not shooting down targets of opportunity.

But you keep worrying about aesthetics and make believe design flaws

That's the HUD. Who has seen the HMD helmet except you? [emoji16]
That is prototype one not operational jet for GOD. I am pretty sure it doesn't even have AESA in this prototype. Do you have any clue how it works ??? At least 3 more prototypes will come

I dont know why so many ***'s on fire....fanboys want a jet with beauty or a jet which defends our sky....170 km with pl 15 is deadly combination. we all know pak india borders are so close we will always have close dog fight. As per 27 feb example.. we already fixed indian mighty su30mki with this so called ugly design.. seriously all those who are disappointed they have to have their mental chackup...i will pay fee for doctor.. most import thing this time so many international people will help india in next conflict those who hate pak. I mean likes of chirstine fair..i mean professional in airforce tactics

AoA All,
Was watching the river flow silently since last few days. As all fanboys here, I was really excited for the arrival of Blk-3. Penning down the few observations/questions from my side as well.

1.Looking at this #3000 prototype pictures. It looks like that fuselage is bigger (~6 to 10 inches higher then earlier blocks). May be its wider as well in same proportion but can't say. I think wings, fuselage and spine has been strengthened for obvious reasons.
2. Air intakes are different then earlier blocks. The difference is same as symbol "/" and "\". It means that this design change has to has a relation with speed, radar signature, engine thrust or air cooling for additional avionics.

Now few questions

1. What is the significance or hidden story behind the number 3000? When first Thunder prototypes had designations like pt-01 and so on.. what with this 3000?
2. Is this the only prototype of blk-3? There were structural difference in pt-01, pt-04 and pt-06. May be there are other prototypes and we might see some minor physical changes as well.
3. 2 months ago, one of my relative told me that a blk-3 is undergoing testing at Kamra. There is negligible difference in appearance with earlier blocks. If blk-3 is in Kamra then why and what prototype is this #3000?

Regards

I know what's obvious but atm all is being said in the light of this prototype.
