JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Sir can you elaborate what happend on other side of the border.

Hi,

When the enemy looks up and sees 1/2 a sqdrn of brand new aircraft in your arsenal---it is going to be the begining of a bad day---and then the photos of another new model pop up in flight---their day has taken a turn for the worst---.

RafaleKiller!
bro then take time and make rafale killer aik sala main nhi banty

You can field FOUR JF-17 for the price of ONE Rafale.
Now which will have more chances of getting the work done.....one or four.
cant they add heavy and light hard points on thunders ? lets say 4 heavy and 4 light ?

Then by that logic JFT should have 4 times less number of hardpoints than Rafale. Get rid of those extra hardpoints/extra AAMs and their drag then!

This line of thinking would only be plausible if all IAF had was 4 times less number of Rafales then our JFTs. These same Jeffs have to take on MKIs and M2Ks and whatever IAF goes shopping for.

With this kind of blk 3, I'm sure PAF has plans for an interim fighter between JFT and fifth gen.

Hi,

Posters who were expecting a canted tail---I guess you had not read physics in school or college and then my posts on the subject---.

The reason for canted tail on the 2 seater is due to the second seat and the larger hump on the spine---.

The tail had to be canted to compensate for the change in air flow over the structure due to change in design and extra weight in the front---a possible change in location of internal fuel tanks---and shorter but chubbier hump---.

It is all about adjusting for the aerodynamic change---.

There was no reason to change the tail for the BLK3 single seater as the basic structure is the same---.

This much physics you kids and adults should have known---because physics in not an elective subject in pakistani high schools---or is it---.

The way i see it, when US carrier fleet is seaborne, it has a dozen escort ships for protection, now can the Indian Navy enjoy the same kind of luxury....same applies with how the IAF will deploy it's air assets, the magic word is sortie rate.

There are people who were expecting nothing from blk3 and then there are those who were going overboard in expectations and wanting it to be South Asia's F-35.

But in between there were innocent reasonable people like me..who just wanted perhaps an HMD/HOBS capability, an IRST, a robust EW suit..

Please PAC, don't let people like me down [emoji16]

I just want more JF-17 Thunders in whatever Block possible.

So far and in near future Insha'Allah:
  • Block-1 Alpha: 50
  • Block-2 Alpha: 62-64
  • Block-2 Bravo: 26-28
  • Block-3 Alpha: 50
The above tally will take it to at least 190 at the current plans.

PAF needs to replace ALL F-7s and Mirage III/5 as soon as possible with the JF-17 Thunders to become the main light-weight fighter in its inventory.

If there is no or minor changes from B2 to B3 then why it is in yellow color? It could have got away with same B2 with most of the changes inside. why to go with prototype ? There got to be something which we don't know yet.
even minor changes like different engine, use of composite and new hardpoitn would change weight
yay...! one new hard point under air intake
so final verdict..lack of IRST-->disappointment, rest pretty much on par of expectation

Well it also could be belly pod instead of chinpod.
as i pointed out previously there is no space on chin..the only place is on other side of the gun pod under the air intake..i wonder why wasnt this there at block 1 stage(a clear mistake)

Remember bro JF-17 is light weight fighter whereas RAFALE is medium weight in category
