JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

The problem with SD-10 is weight and size needing only heavy weight Hp on jf and not wingtips

SD-10
Its total length is about missile 3934mm, the projectile diameter 203mm, fighting the whole weight 199kg (Chinese version reported as 198kg) wingspan range of 52mm, the maximum high range shot 0-21km, maximum flight distance is more than 70km

Aim-120
The AMRAAM has a length of 3.6m, diameter of 17.7cm and wingspan of 52.5cm. The launch weight of the missile is 150.7kg. It is capable of carrying an 18.1kg high-explosive blast fragmentation warhead to a maximum range of between 20 to 30 nautical miles (nm).

Mica

The missile has a length of 3.1m, diameter of 0.16m, and weighs 112kg. It can be launched using rail launch or ejection launch method from an aircraft.

Target designation for the missile is provided by electro-optical sensors, radar and helmet-mounted sigh

Up to six MICA missiles can be carried on the medium to lightweight aircraft. The MICA’s minimum and maximum operating ranges are 500m and 60km respectively.

I have a feeling that JF block 3 will have minor structural changes that will be eventually adopted by rest of 1 and 2 blocks. different nose cone to accommodate AESA radar and IRST similar to J-10B more stealthier shape air intake, bigger dorsal spine to accommodate more avionics.

JF-17 is a true customize able platform like building your own gaming rig (JF-17) instead of buying HP desktop (F-16).

Three area where jf III exceeds at I think even block 52s

A) sea role
B) aesa radar
C) EW will surpass 52 I think via Lenardo supplied

Or

Long range advance weapons like 5th gen missiles pl-10, pl-15 and cm-400akg

So figured out I think

AK is anti ship
AKG version is anti surface

C-803Ak vs akg
CM-400 AK vs akg

The base C-802 missile has been developed further into variants capable of precision surface strike by replacing the original active radar seeker with a different seeker such as television. The CM-802AKG is a one such variant reported earlier.

C-802A specifications
Guidance: active radar seeker
Range: 180km
Warhead: 190kg
Weight: 600kg (air launched) / 802kg (ship / vehicle launched)

CM-802AKG specifications
Guidance: imaging infrared radar
Range: 230km
Warhead: 285kg
Weight: 670kg

We can have a sort of JF19, with bigger engine and payload with new design. somethin to go along with F16s and instead buy off the shelf J20 or J30 as the need arises. Its after this that we can think of going 5th gen local production.

Ummmm..... No.

Pakistan can hardly manage JF-17 by itself & you want an iteration of a medium weight fighter. JF-17 has been running as a program (not talking about Super-7) since 1993. It would take Pakistan more than a decade to furnish & make operational a 'JF-19' (why would China do a 'Joint Fighter', BTW?). Its better to aim for a functional competitive product than to waste time on an out-dated concept.

So then imagine how long project Azm would take? Or maybe we ll waste time and money and in end buy a 5th gen from china. The logical step is to move up through the technology ladder. We gained expertise in a lightweight fighter, now we can move ahead to medium weight 4.5++ gen fighter. Its only after this that we can think of our own 5th or 6th gen fighter.
Why did china cooperate on JF17? They dnt use it. Same we can have a new medium weight fighter capable to replace or replenish F16 fleet and instead buy a 5th gen. We need a 4.5++ gen fighter as we have very limited nmbr of F16 blk 52s and JF17 is not something to replace or replenish F16 fleet.
If we continue the current course, i feel we will end up buying 4.5++ gen fighter and then again buy 5th gen

Can we please stay on topic, which is the Block 3 and not once again these stupid considerations on if Pakistan could develop an enlarged JF-17PLUS or even JF-19 by either taking a WS-10 or just two RD-93.

We already discussed these fan-concepts to death ... :hitwall::crazy:

I will try and be succint in my responses.
A. Re project Azm a time line has been given. 10 yrs for a working prototype. So wait for it before passing judgement.
B.moving up the technical ladder: PAF considers JFT to be the platform with which it will move up the technical ladder. Any larger project will be cost prihibitive and divert funding from Project Azm and therefore useless. You perhaps do not understand the dynamics of how a fighter jet is made. It is not as simple as enlarge it a bit here and there adda few hardpoints here there and there and add that engine and wallah!!
C. Chinese willingness to collaborate in JFT vs Medium weight fighter. The answer is simple. JFT is a seller and a product for which there is a niche. Therefore as a commercial project it makes sense. Middle weight fighters are plenty and there is a glut in the market controlled by the USA. THERE is no way you or even the Chinese will tread on US feet to produce another Medium weight fighter. China will also not collaborate with you as they have a competing product(J10) and they will not compromise sales prospects of it. There is a reason why J10 has not been sold so far.

Looking at this picture jf has enough wingspan to add additional Hp like f-16 plus under intake hp bring it to same as f-16 11 Hp
