Japan out as China emerges new contender in Karachi Circular Railway project

.
Karachi Circular Railway is a failed project. Why waste money on reviving it? If anything, Karachi needs an underground railway, as comprehensive as London's, if not more! Nothing short will truly solve Karachi's problems! KCR shall remain a loss-making entity and will have to be shut down again.

What underground system will have so special which circular railway lacks. I believe KCR will be a success, if run honestly and professionally.

Japs weren't willing to give bribe to Sindh government, while the Chinks have no such problem. Hence they got the project.
This post shows that had it not been for international politics of Pakistan-China friendship, Pakistanis too would have used the C-word freely and more frequently.

That was a stupid mistake on my part and mods have rightfully given a negative rating for it. No need for useless bharatis to bring their curry asses every where.

Are you even aware of Karachi? Will you take circular railway to areas of high population density? How will you achieve that? Currently, there are stations kilometres apart and there is no room for expansion. If you want to go to Saddar, will you get off at City Station and then walk all the way to Saddar many km away? Unless there is a mass transit system available, there is no hope for betterment of a city of 25 million. Unfortunately, Pakistani people lack vision!

Although mods have given a negative rating to that post as a formality, deep down they too have an urge to use the C-word. South Asians are all same, you know!

what stops train coming from city station to cantonment station. Don't they have track between city and cantonment? And where ever some extension is required they may go underground, on the ground or over the ground.

Monorail system is the only answer, underground would be too expensive, KCR, as you rightly pointed out will not reach all areas, and there will be no room for expansion.

It does not need a lot of space, as is evident form the pic, and so can easily be expanded to congested areas of the city as well.

Monorails are a showpiece in highly congested areas of india , china or pakistan.
Normal metro is reqd whether underground or on surface due to higher capacities.
Old delhi is highly congested , but dmrc managed to get the metro into the heart of it.

underground construction costs would be too high, and need a willing govt that does not hesitate to make some space (destroying/removing encroachments etc.) for the surface metro.

These are essential investments for cities to grow and citizens to have a improved std of living.
"Monorails capacity is about 10000 passengers per hour, while Metrorail has a capacity of 40000 passengers."
10k passanger capacity wont dent our crowded cities.
Mumbai has indias only monorail and is considered a curiosity , rather than a mass mover. Now massive investments for metro rails are ongoing.
No point in investing less and not having a useful facility.
Maybe chinese can give u guys a cheaper metro ?
Again its not only about keeping vehicles off the streets but also giving common folks a decent travel experience.
delhis 1st and 2nd stages of 190 km cost around 2.7 b usd at 2007 rates .
Pakistan has two third the population density of India , so everything is possible.

Underground railways have quite a massive upfront cost but in the long run it is the most effective means of mass transit. There is a reason why all the big cities in the world London, NY, Paris, Tokyo, Toronto etc have underground subway systems. Underground railway also offers an excellent capability to extend the lines as cities expand and spread out. With on-grade railway extending lines is difficult, with over-ground railways it becomes nearly impossible.
