Only a handful of mass transit systems in the whole world are profitable. And this is only possible since their parent authorities control real estate around train stations that boosts in value (due to convenience). Even with this fact, benefits of mass transit is huge in densely populated cities and countries. Electric battery bus systems are probably the most cost effective form of mass transit. They should be prioritized in large Pakistani cities.

i doubt this. there are no other railway lines on shahrah e faisal. at least between the port and landhi, same line is used by everyone.

in any case, the point is that the tax paid by the city is not being spent on it. it is instead being wasted in providing land cruisers and bungalwos to sarkari babus and ministers of provincial and federal govts.

Individuals and shops are not same thing. Pakistan retail shops hardly pay any tax. Only brands ones do now because of FBR POS system. This is why must of sales tax is collected at port.

Afford it from where? An ADB, IMF, WB loan? The f-ing BISP is running on loans. Schools made on loans. Hospitals loans. Water canal? Loan. Government employee salaries? Loan.

When you get money to pay for something from a loan, it isn't "afford".

simple: use the tax collected from Karachiites and return it to Karachi, re invest it into the city, its more thann enough to cater to our needs. add to that the regulatory fees etc paid to local building control authority, charged parkings, advertisment board tax etc. Govt only looks to extort money from the city, yet gives nothing in return. dont care what bisp is running or not running on, I only care that collections from Karachi are not being spent on it.

Karachiites are paying bills to KWSB, taxes on those bills, and yet no water is being supplied, where is that money going? people have to dig up wells, or to pay to have water tanker delivered, in addition to paying kwsb bills. use that money for Karachi.

That's not how they will build it in Pakistan. It will still take up the space and render it useless for anything use by putting big concrete pillars in the middle. It's better to keep them on the ground.

You are not getting it. There are two taxes. On goods which FBR collect. And on services which Sindh govt collect. All imported goods sales tax is collected at port stage by FBR. But there is huge tax evasion going on in retail for goods made in Pakistan as they don't declare actual sales. Thats why FBR introduced POS system.
