Islamic and Western thought in Turkey - A problem yet not solved

If Iran's problem is how to survive, then the issue of Turkey is to stay focused.

Do not forget, the "only" two Muslim countries have not completed to the adaptation of industrialization and modernization.

The way I see (super roughly) it is the massive secular power of the military kept the politicians from switching over to a religious system. But now that the military has given our country peace to develope and prosper the politicians are doing all they can to switch into religious regime.

This is the dilemma of a muslim-secular country. Good and smart people are mostly conservative muslims and they tend to go a slightly different path of what is good for Turkey. But I hope the people are smart enough to see that our government is deviating from their path.

For Turkey, it is not easy to stay focused, which is the reason I am more optimistic about Iran.The survivability of Iran is a problem, but there is still a chance to overcome it, but the focus for Turkey, it is more complicated, and that there are too many uncertainties, very dangerous, I think.

One of the most important reasons to the fall of Ottoman Empire was its rejection of Western technology, Philosophy and science.

by abolishing Islam from the system Turkey may lead to scientific and social revolutions. But as the Ottomans feared the West Ataturk feared Islam.

Yet the problem was not Islam, but it was the Ottoman rulers who tried to isloate the state completely from Western enlightenment movement.
Some are afraid to criticize Ataturk, some are afraid to criticize the Ottoman.

I really enjoyed the article. Thank you Zulkarneyn. I have bolded the parts in the article which are the main reasons to not have a perfect democratic state in Turkey, no need to say only from my point of view.

Once Islam is fully integrated into science, technology and philosphy we will truly evolve an integrated intellectual movement.

This part could not be resulted from the manuscript. When A & B are wrong, this does not mean C is the suitable answer while there are other options like D, E, F , etc. You should provide more reasons to conclude like that.

We should fear mindless fanaticism beyond everything else. Because the best friend is the one who tells right from wrong even though it might hurt you.

In my opinion, we should not fear any opinion. It is our duty to aware the society after which we should just trust the social consciousness.
