Iraq to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan

.
May be offcial induction of Block 3 will came later on when full sqr will be inducted in PAF colors

.
Just watched a short video clip on Youtube saying that Iraq will order 48 of them. Is this true?

. .
After the Russian war with Ukraine, we can forget about exports of JF-17. No country is going to be inducting a new jet with a Russian engine. PAF might even be forced to curtail its program if Americans have their way

Chinese Engines will have a role in this situation.

Which country will say no?

iirc a non-afterburning WS-13 variant is already in use with PLA UAVs, and a JF-17 block 3 prototype should be testing a WS-13 in China right now.

Make sure we always have a backup.
The choice of engines has always been there. WS13 series needed to mature which they now seem to have. There are minimal/no differences in dimensions of the two so practically PAC/CATIC can offer a JFT with both engines depending on customer demand. As to PAC it can, if it desires/the Russians can provide, continue with the RD series or if there are supply issues switch over to WS series.

In the future, Russia Pakistan relationship might get worse since COAS Bajwa criticized Russia invading Ukraine, Pakistan shall has a plan b if Russia cut your engine supply.

I think ground realities are understood by all parties involved. The real problem remains the ability of the Russians to supply export items in times of war where there may be internal demand. Pak Russia relationship is a reality and will straighten out once the new Pakistani setup takes hold of government. It is a need of both countries and is bound to happen sooner or later.
