Iran’s Freefall Into Poverty

Yes, it is run hy the USA but as New pointed out what exactly are they saying that isn’t even remotely true. If they are off by a few million in poverty then point it out instead of saying the blanket “it’s ALL a smokescreen of lies”.

This New person also posts articles from that cult, the MEK. But fine, I will hammer the point home.

As per UNICEF (not from some propaganda writer at Radio Farda) figures, absolute poverty (Living below in $1.25 a day in 2005 prices) in Iran is at 1.5%. That's about 1.1 million. Our propaganda maker here claims it is up to 15 million.

1400% off.

So yes, it is ALL lies.

a question, exactly where in Tehran this picture is taken ?

Well...don’t know the year but as per UNICEF itself:

https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/iran_2142.html

“Approximately 20 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line and serious regional disparities exist. Populations in rural areas suffer the most, with lower household incomes, higher unemployment rates, lower literacy rates and fewer available services.”

Population of Iran -80M.
20% of 80M is 16M.

The OP wrote 15M.

However I will give this number some slack since it seems the definition of poverty varies by how developed the country is. In Iran poverty may not be calculated the same as in China.

For instance in the US it iis related to median income. So if the median income rises and your pay doesn’t you could fall into the definition of poverty which currently is making less than $30 a day vs the UN $1.90.

For all I know it’s $10 in Iran.

I think 10$/day is good line for determining poverty in Iran but you must keep it in your mind that cost of life is not same in all part of Iran.
in Tehran you would be below medium level life with 10$ while with same amount you would be in medium level at smaller city.

Typical Iranian house and Apartment

Poverty, absolutely exist in Iran but The radio Farda article was so unrealistic and unfair.

Iran subways:
this is important that Iran built it's subway system during sanction time
1-Tehran subway

one of the deepest metro station in world

Tehran it has 142 metro stations

1. It says the year right at the bottom. 2003. Not only was Iran's population at that time 68 million, but its level of development has improved hugely.

2. The propaganda maker said absolute poverty. Which, as I already said, is living below $1.25 a day. And the figures for that were 1.5%, in 2011.

3. I reiterate, this is all lies written by propaganda writers. You might as well present me with the works of Joseph Goebbels.

I really don't want to argue with my "face-saver" countrymen about this issue ...

and the MEK trash like the OP wonder why all Iranians of every stripe despise them so much?
so desperate they take individual pictures of poverty to humiliate poor Iranians without their permission to make a political point. maybe post pictures of Detroit, American ghettos. the richest country on earth has poverty worse then iran in many places if one went looking with an agenda.

though I guess it still beats fighting on saddam husseins behalf against iran......

cultist subhuman traitors... camp ashraf must have really hurt?

Which one of the quoted sentences do you exactly believe is giving you the proof to conclude the whole article full of BS, my dear friend?
The number of people living in slums?
I'm sure your English is good enough to distinguish the difference between living in slums and living in city suburbs. You surely know the difference between زاغه and حاشیه نشینی?
Do we have poor people? Hell yes, lots of them. Do we have very poor people? Indeed. Does that mean 21 million Iranians are living in slums? Hell no.
Or the non existence of the organ selling Ad's filled up walls of the Tehran city?

The article says the cities, Tehran especially, are "full of organ advertisements". I have been living in Tehran for 13 years and have been on its streets almost everyday and I can say this statement is pure BS. Yes, you might find some advertisements here and there about this, and rarely I have seen them tbqh, but to say that streets of Tehran are full of this left and right is a pathetic twisting of the reality.

Honestly bro, I still remember the better, more rational side of you. But with your gradual shift, the picture is getting more and more vague. I do know some similar cases, among friends especially, who have a sudden or gradual change in their views/beliefs, who eventually jump out of the frying pan right into the fire. A change in beliefs is not necessarily bad, but not when it takes the other side of extreme.

Iran is doing better than most. No need to listen to CIA run sites like Radio Farda. If the Americans cared about the poor... well, they should start by doing something about their homeless problems.

I also find it funny when people from crap-hole countries try to put Iran down..... look at the modern and developed infrastructure in Iran and compare it to your own backwards turd-holes..... and then just STFU.

It's even funnier when an Iranian posts this here! Some Iranians have the talent to only see darkness and empty half of the glass. Thanks for your support.

It is Navvab St. The only problem with the picture is that there is three Milad towers instead of one. The rest of it is exactly how I remember it.
