Have you read the OP yourself? Tell me from which angle does it seem to be an early development? The article clearly claims that Iranian new bomb dwarfs USA's MOAB and Russia's FOAB in yield. How can one make such a tall claim for a product that is in the early development?

Can you elaborate? How did you measure the yield if it has not been tested quite a few times? Also, as your country is obsessed with secrecy, then why would it announce a product that has not been even tested? Just to boast right? In principle, by weight, yes. Recall MOAB itself, designed to be delivered by a C-130 Hercules, primarily the MC-130E Combat Talon I or MC-130H Combat Talon II variants, weighs 9.8 tons .

C-130
Payload: 19.50 ton (C-130J), 19.958 ton (C-130J-30), 20.4 ton (C-130H)

Il-76
Payload: 42 ton (Il-76M), 48 ton (Il-76MD), 60 ton (Il-76MD-90A)

The smaller but heavier US' Massive Ordnane Pentetrator weighs 14 tons but it is not in tended for C130: each of the U.S. Air Force's B-2s is to be able to carry two 14-ton MOPs.

So, in practice, it would depend on bomb dimensions v cargo hold dimensions

Iran has 3 C-130E/H and 5 Il-76 transports in the regular air force. Plus 3 Il-76 and 9 An-74 with the Aerospace force of the Revolutionary guard corps. If Iran could carry its bombs by C-130, then why didn't they? Instead they chose to use Il-76. IMHO, since An-74 doesn't have enough paylaod, that's either because of the bomb's dimensions relative to cargo hold / cargo bay door dimensions, or because it's a Revolutionary Guard Corps piece of ordnance.

Very useful information. The C-130 seems to be good, but for some reason the commander did not mention the plane, perhaps because of the design of the bomb or because of lack of military bases for refueling. This bomb is a great use to destroy the ISIL command centers, as the US has used it. Even the Americans themselves refer to the mc-130 aircraft for carrying the bomb. I think the problem is not the airplane, but the fuel shortage for the C-130, to carry the bomb to distant areas. And remember that the Revolutionary Guard recently opened a factory to produce much higher explosive power.

True, though I don't care much about this "mother of/father of" bombs one-upmanship. Even if it carries a standard TNT filling weight of 8,000 (not likely since Iran has more powerful explosives that TNT in production), it is still a new capability than can be useful in specific situations.

I don't think this is a thermobaric weapon though. Iran has never announced this capability. At most, there have been some scientific studies but nothing with military backing.
