Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

I visited IRGC Navy small exhibition in Chitgar lake today, took some pics with phone camera, but pics taken by one of dear members from Military.ir have better quality, so I put them here:

Say hello to world's fastest torpedo: Hoot, a supercavitaion Torpedo that travels at speed of 360 km/h, reverse engineered version of Russian VA-111 Shkval Torpedo.

Nasr, Qadir and Zafar cruise missiles (Qadir has a range of 300 km). The big blue one on the right is Iranian reverse engineered Silkworm missile.

I forgot to mention the name: It's named Zulfiqar Amphibious boat (قایق دوزیست ذوالفقار), it goes both on water and underwater.

Sounds more like a submarine than an amphibious vehicle.

Its simply a boat that can submerge for a couple of meters, nothing like a submarine.
It can close in without being detected by the radars, so that it can launch its torpedoes within the range.

If its a boat thats submerged on its own power, then its a submarine. Even if its only 1 meter underwater or that small. Its a submarine.

one could say so =))
But it lacks periscope, electrical engine and batteries that you can find on regular submarines.
its a boat that has been made this way just to evade radars.
even at the most submerged level, a tiny part of it is still above the surface.

Not all submarines have to have a periscope to define as one. Heck some submarines don't even have one. And it doesn't matter what type of propulsion it has as long as it can power itself. Gas, diesel, nuclear, even hand cranked.
