IRIN Sahand
* Also known as Moudge 5, it's the 3rd ship of its class to be completed after Jamaran (76) and Damavand (77)
* Unlike previous two with their hulls made up of 29 blocks, Sahand's hull has 20 compartments which illustrates a domestic design and not one based on reverse engineering of British Saam class
* Sahand is the first of Moudge family to utilize a stealthy design, reducing magnetic, heat and radar signatures.
* Like its other brothers already in service, Sahand will be equipped with modern Asr phased array radar and IEI optical sensors.
* Reportedly it will have a larger helipad.
* Unlike Jamaran (76) and Damavand (77) equipped with two foreign-made engines, Sahand will have four Iranian-built engines.
* Sahand will be the first Iranian warship to have variable-pitch propellers which increase maneuverability and efficiency.
* Sahand will have enjoy longer endurance compared to previous ships and will carry twice as much armament.

Iran’s Sahand Destroyer Nearing Completion: Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Navy is developing new destroyers, including “Sahand” which is 90 percent complete, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Sayyari said the manufacturing of new military destroyers in Iran has witnessed substantial progress, and the highest degree of development relates to Sahand.
Sahand is the third destroyer produced as part of the Mowj (Wave) project in Iran. Its predecessors, Jamaran and Damavand, are currently in service and employed in naval missions in the international waters.
Elsewhere in his comments, Rear Admiral Sayyari pointed to the Navy’s anti-piracy missions in the high seas, saying the Iranian forces have escorted 2,500 vessels over the past 7 years, allowing them to escape unharmed when faced with pirates.
The commander noted that Iran’s Navy is not after arresting the pirates, but only aims to shoo them out of the country’s maritime borders.
Since November 2008, the Iranian navy has conducted anti-piracy missions in the Gulf of Aden and Bab el-Mandeb strait to protect the country's vessels against pirate attacks.
Under the terms of several UN Security Council resolutions, nations can deploy warships to the Gulf of Aden and coastal waters of Somalia to protect their vessels against pirates and, after giving notice to Somali government, enter Somali territorial waters in pursuit of the pirates.

Iranian Navy Unveils New Achievements
The Iranian Navy unveiled new equipment and achievements on Monday in a ceremony participated by Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Abdolrahim Moussavi.
Solid S-band radar system, submarine exist simulator, map and information management electronic system, radar networking system and Mark 46 torpedo engine test system are among the achievements unveiled today.
Tracking and tracing surface targets by 4 X-band and S-band radar systems mounted on Sabalan destroyer on Lark island, integrated processing and displaying information of surface targets and interception of an unlimited number of systems are the main specifications of networking radars in operations areas.
High agility and rapid contact with the command and control network are among other features of the semiconductor radar which can identify enemies' strategic targets in a 600km radius

به گزارش خبرنگار دفاعی خبرگزاری تسنیم، با حضور امیر موسوی جانشین فرمانده کل ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران از آخرین پروژههای راهبردی نیروی دریایی ارتش در ستاد راهبردی نیروی دریایی ارتش رونمایی شد.
بر اساس این گزارش از این پروژهها بهصورت ویدئوکنفرانس رونمایی شد و پروژههایی چون رادار باند X و ایستگاه دریایی کوه مبارک، رادار باند S در پایگاه دریایی پسابندر، رادار باند S در ایستگاه دریایی شهید آقاجعفری و پروژههای مستقر در مراکز تحقیقات سازمان جهاد افتتاح شد.
همچنین با حضور جانشین فرمانده کل ارتش و امیر حبیبالله سیاری فرمانده نیروی دریایی ارتش از طراحی و ساخت رادار باند S سالیت و تست گرم موتور اژدر مارک 46 در کارگاه جهاد نداجا و پروژه استابلایزر و مدلاتور مربوط به فایرکنترل شناورهای کلاس پیکان نیز رونمایی شد.
