this is why i don't believe in military under any govt, so much traitor in there, easily can be purchased and used with a handsome money..
This is the major weakness for countries like Iran against USA, west and Israel..

In this photo from the recent past, taken during a ceremony on the Makran 441, I indicate with the red arrow another ship that seems to be undergoing major works, the entire superstructure of the bridge has also been removed
I wonder if this ship is also being modified in favor of the armed forces.
I ask this because if this were the case, the final appearance of the ship could be completely different from what was made for the Makran 441

Kharg served years in iranian army . it served many years before as an tanker. It was old . maintaining it was expensive and recently it tend to develope problem in its missions. To be honnest . it must have been scuttled years before after stripped of anything valuable. Just hop no live lost here.

Whachu saying man? It was old?

ضربه زدن جبران خسارت نمیکنه

تانکر گرفتن اما خیلی بازدارندگی داره
بعد قضیه اندونزی ملاها بادشون خوابید و دیگه تانکر نگرفتند

این تک نتیجش

It was 50 year old ship . let face the truth . and in every previous mission it developed some problem. Iran must have got rid of the ship long before this accident happens.

And as if others cant take your tankers.

The ship was delivered in 1984, whatever modernization efforts made the ship was approaching a half century in service. This isn’t an F-14 that you have to keep afloat. Iran can build Kharg like ships at this point or use retrofitted oil tankers.

The Kharg was the only proper logistics ship of IRI that allowed for long term deployments without constant port calls (such as anti piracy activities), and there is no replacement in sight.

What Amir said here is completely correct:

And yet an Iranian frigate is going to Venezuela with the Makran as we speak....

Not that the Iranian navy is on long term deployments or that during “wartime” assuming the adversary is the US. The Iranian Navy won’t even make it out alive in the PG. So again for near future Kharg loss is being over exaggerated.

Iran has the capacity to build logistics ships, the Persian Gulf Training Ship could be a logistics ship. So can the floating sea bases Iran is building using massive tankers. Lastly, Iran may be able to acquire new logistics ships from China or Russia as they are ships with no offensive capabilities and likely won’t get as much heat from the US and EU.

Iran's only potential adversaries are not the US. Iran's current conventional navy is still useful against regional adversaries.

Also, you and I know that the IRIN intends to build destroyers and larger submarines. That points to a stronger naval force for the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean. So they will be a more viable force against all adversaries including the USA. Those ships will need replenishment at sea and a Makran-class won't cut it. They're floating bases, not replenishment ships.

There's been no sign that Iran is working on a domestic design for a replenishment ship. Everyone knows how long Artesh designs and procurement programs take. The loss of Kharg will sting for a long time.

Every single crew member made it off alive so the rescue mission was completely successful. Iran will build or purchase a replacement. This is not the end of the world.

This is a good wake up call for Iran's military overall. All military hardware / equipment has a limited operating life. You can't upgrade old equipment indefinitely

Listen Amir, how long were you going to carry the corpse of Kharg? Iran’s large destroyers and submarines are likely 10+ years away. By then Kharg would have been 50 years old.

Dear god man let the ship Rest In Peace.

And no offense but the OSNIT community when it comes to Iran is a joke. They know basically what Iran says or shows to a large extent.

They missed Makan and it’s bigger brother and they missed Shahid Solemani.

So Iran could announce a replacement for Kharg in next 6 months and none of you would be the wiser.

Now IRGC and IR Navy has a fire lit to actually build a replacement for Kharg before they didn’t.

Also Makan is being called back to fulfill the training mission.

not to make controversy.
But the Kharg originally developed over 21 knots of maximum speed, so she had, in the eventuality, the possibility of navigating at a speed adequate to that of the naval team also composed of frigates.
I think it is mainly for this reason that the Iranian navy was trying to keep it operational in the fleet.
Even the recent logistic / refueling units for the fleet built in other countries such as the Vulcano class for the Italian Navy or the Spanish ones for Australia, reach speeds of 20 knots.
While adapting an oil tanker for the purpose of refueling is possible, but the ships currently built or available in the second-hand market rarely exceed 15 knots.
Furthermore, adapting fast transport units not equipped from the outset with adequate tanks in fueling vessels becomes a very difficult and costly transformation operation.
Therefore in repeating myself, I think that although the Iranian Navy will try to proceed quickly to find a replacement, the sinking of the Kharg is still a serious loss, as it will leave a void in the fleet before another ship with similar characteristics takes its place.
