Iranian Ground Forces | News and Equipment

Lmaooo thought this was Iran-Iraq

Iranian military acts like kevlar helmets and plate carriers cost a million dollars, guaranteed the back blast of that rpg would send debris through someone's torso they're that unprotected

Equipment aside, what kind of trench is that? its only waist high!

IRGC needs to hold Army's hand and show them what soldiering means. What a national disgrace!!!

The army is completely useless, these exercises are apparently designed to show strength and deter enemies from attacking Iran.

When seeing this picture, it only encourages attacks.

The inept mullahs have let the Iranian Artesh or regular army deteriorate at all levels. The soldiers have not been provided with modern helmets, kevlar and other basic protective gear since the end of Iran-Iraq war. The airforce is stuck in the 1970's with aging aircraft. The navy is non existent and has lightly armed speed boats. The plight of the army being deployed on the Aras is quite unsettling as their poor equipment and lack of proper training or basic tactics clearly shows. The modern army the Shah built is now a humiliating rabble.

The Army during the Shah's time was also trash. Iran lost over 3000 troops in Oman in the early 1970s. Not exactly a stellar performance!

Equipment is the least of their problems! They need to develop proper leadership and training. It seems that 8 years of war really thought them nothing. Thank God Iran has the IRGC. At this point any money given to the Army would be a waste!

Their capabilities are also doubtful.

The Shah had started the buildup in the early 1970's after the British nominally gave "independence" to the UAE artificial puppet regime. Iran's involment in Oman was his effort to please the west. Meanwhile, he literally gave away Bahrain rather than support the Bahraini majority will to join the motherland Iran. Iranian military in 1970's was barely ready for a major power projection and did suffer casualties in Oman. Iran was saved in the Jange Tahmili only by the sheer dint of its nationalism and size. Saddam was an idiot who simply did not understand strategic mass like Hitler underestimated the USSR and its size. The Sepah is a product of the Iran and Iraq war and is also not that well equipped. Iran has failed to provide basic modern battlefield kits to either the Sepah or Artesh. The Russians have the most modern and effective RATNIK (warrior) field body armor and uniforms in the world today. At least Iran should be equipping the Sepah with similar system, which are not that costly.

In terms of Amour I agree but in terms of Infantry IRGC is ahead. At least they can dig a decent trench!

You guys are too fixated on kit and how troops look. Iran has bigger problems then just equipment. Look at the Saudis with there top of the line equipment getting their asses handed to them by 90 Lbs. malnutrition Houthi fighters in sandals. Iran should worry about being able to build a proper fortification and not placing their heavy machine gun on top of their fortification out in the open to be taken out by mortar fragments from a round hitting 30 meters away!!!

I guess that all comes back to an ill-trained military, regardless of kit. Comparing anyone with the Saudis is a insult. Iran should be looking at Russian military or Chinese as a role model. Iran's inclusion in the recent Kavkaz 2020 is a start for the isolated officer corps to be exposed to modern militaries. Since 1979, Iran's military like society has been largely closed off to the modern world.

These are conscript army soldiers, not much can be expected. They are defensive troops that hold areas.

Then there are Artesh units with higher percentage of professional soldiers which can also do limited offensive operations.

And then there are IRGC GF and Artesh units that are there to do offensive tasks.

Infantry is not Irans real concern, the question is how much money is needed to maintain the Artesh and how much can be derived to IRGC missile forces and that's how Iran managed to get where it is in terms of deterrence today.

Its not creating pride to see those photos, but they are not really important.

this is really really really disturbing news :what:

Eearlier this month, a senior advisor to Iranian intelligence minister warned of enemies’ plots to arm people in the country with smuggled weapons to foment insecurity.
