Iran wants closer ties with Pakistan

I Pray Pakistan, China and Iran to have more closer and friendly relations than its at currrent.

What is holding back Iran and Pakistan from developing a closer relationship?

The Iranian people are near and dear to Pakistan, however, the policies of it's regime have alienated the Pakistani state, in particular the dependence on creation of armed sectarian militia in states with Shi'ah populations, Pakistan is today the second largest Shi'ah nation in the world, it's possible to imagine that in time, it may be the largest -- can Pakistan tolerate such militias and indeed is not the current extremism in Pakistani society not a result of militias sponsored and funded by the Wahabi of Arabia?

So, Iranian regime must think over this dependence on militias, Pakistan won't tolerate it - Shi'ah, Sunni, Catholic or Protestant, Hindu or Sikh, Pakistanis are first Pakistanis, at least they are to the Pakistani state.

Secondly, Pakistani policy makers have tilted to such an extreme towards the Wahabi of Saudi Arabia in regional policy, that they now have brought suspicion into the heart of the Iranian, given the virulently anti-Shi'ah policies of such radicals as the the Taliban and the activities of Wahabi proselytizers in Central Asia.

What can both countries do to return to a more harmonious relationship??

What is holding back Iran and Pakistan from developing a closer relationship?

Although its complicated to define but in simple word 'perception' and our perceptions are engineered via information and mass media is source of information, sadly 99% controlled and misused.

I recall one night some where in Iran.... my next door neighbor (an engineer) came over to see football on my TV and some how the discussion started about Shia & Sunni and he accused Sunnis of such beliefs which were false.
I cleared the matter but i could see that he has difficulty to digest the fact that all his life what he believed about Sunnis was wrong!
I tell you he accepted my comments considering me a Pakistani Sunni!
From that day if some one ask me are you Sunni or Shia? my answer is i'm Muslim because both have same beliefs at least nothing so different to fight over or nothing more than as compare to other religions.

And same experience i had in Pakistan, i went to some family who were 'Gaddi Nasheen' (i don't know the exact word in English but take it as spiritual teacher) from generations.
The women of the house said strange things about Saudi Arabian beliefs and behavior... since I had the opportunity to have spent long time in Arabia incl. Saudi... mis perception of this women/family amazed me and imagine this family is spreading same poison to their mureeds (students) and so on.

Coming back to, 'PERCEPTION' it not only keep Iran away from Pakistan but the whole world.
I wish Pakistan have brotherly relations with US, Germany, France, Italy..... every one but media and google is feeding them lies and horrific picture about Pakistan.
Mark my words... coming Pakistani generations will face consequences.

all am saying is is know your enemy ,shia iran never attacked ,so who is the enemy they want us to faceoff, lets unite like EU ,what can these scum do they are bankrupt.long live IRAN (NOT THAT I TRUST THEM )and THE MUSLIMS .

Iranian President telephones President Zardari | APP

ISLAMABAD, Nov 17 (APP): Iranian President Ahmadinejad telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday night and exchanged Eid greetings. The Iranian President also expressed sympathies for the flood affected over the loss of life and property due to the natural tragedy. He expressed the hope that the people of Pakistan would soon overcome the devastation caused by floods. President Zardari reciprocated Eid greetings and thanked the Iranian government for its timely assistance to the flood victims. He said that the resilient people of Pakistan had successfully faced many crises and would also emerge triumphant from the current challenges posed by floods.

President Zardari asked the Iranian President to convey his best wishes and greetings to the people of Iran on the auspicious occasion of Eid.

The two leaders also talked about bilateral matters and expressed the hope to meet soon.

Iran is closer and trade with its is cost effective. The gas pipeline project needs to be expedited so we can overcome the energy shortages.

We will not get a nuclear technology deal at the moment and cannot wait another 5 years. The pipeline will have a positive impact on Pakistan's economy and less dependence on oil imports.

This is something much needed, they are far more advanced than us in most fields, we needs them to pull us up to higher standards.

The Iranian people are near and dear to PakistanQUOTE]

Near and dear to Pakistan? What are you talking about? Most of us don't even know much about Iranians, i think most Pakistanis don't even know what a "Persian" is! lol

I always thought Iran was an Arab nation untill last year

maybe you didn't know, but that doesn't mean everyone else doesn't or didn't.

Good news lets see what comes out of it .

PAKISTAN has 2 brothers CHINA AND TURKIYE but we would love to have a third one tht we kinda lost few decades back! IRAN.

Though any support is welcomed i am curious to know why all of a sudden you have Khamanei supporting Kashmiris. Isolation getting to Iran? Anyways we should stop this oh they are shia nonsense. If somebody wants closer relations with us then sure. How about a new CENTO?

its sad how hardly any pakistani's have stopped to question this.

whilst we are reassuring ourselves that they are "brothers" they are looking to play on our gullibility, for shame.

Pakistan and Iran have no disputes.

Iran was the first country on this planet to recognize Pakistan in 1947.

Closer ties and closer collaboration with Iran can bring stability to Pakistan's Balochistan province and also to Afghanistan.

And those who discriminate against Shias should be shot in the head, and this is coming from a Sunni. The founder of Pakistan was Shia Muslim. Pakistan has the 2nd largest Shia population in the world. Shias are very much part of Pakistan, we all are Muslims.
