they won zero medals with 350 million population, india won 6.
dont try to avoid the inevitable.
his THEORY :sarcastic: must extend to your all weather friends as well.
What medal are you rambling about?
I am talking about the Math Olympiad. Bangladesh is at 38 and Pakistan is at 79 with a total approximate population of 300 Million. How would you like to compare yourself with Bangladesh and Pakistan individually?

look at his post. :coffee: he was using his theory on both sports and maths.
and perhaps we wont be able to compare the maths ranking but we can definitely see the medal tally.
and his branding of indian race must extend to your all weather friends by his logic.
unless of course he is gonaa create other new terms like pakistani and bangladeshi race :sarcastic:

The influence of Eastern European countries in IMO is fading and replacing by Northeastern Asian countries. They are learning hard but not so clever.

Say what you like about E.Europeans but you can't deny that they are good at computer programming.

I think Asia in general are doing pretty well. I am glad to see a lot of Southeast Asian nations got high ranking as well. I am a little surprised that the top spot for continental Europe goes to Italy. I thought France and Germany would be performing better, but kudos to Italians.
agree . it's just not about money . although money is an important factor !
There are many things more to that .
we are not a sporting nation .

Meh, if you are talking about pushing the very top spot, yeah, there is quite a bit to do with physiological difference. This is because at that competition level, the country has already done all the investment into the issue it can, so natural talent becomes the deciding factor.
However, outside those top few spots, it is pretty much about how much the country can invest into education, sports, etc which in turn is really about how well the country is doing economically.
I dislike the whole assumption about genetics. I always believed that with good effort and enough investment into the issue, the country can at least do decently in these types of event regardless of their skin color.

Wisest statement of PDF

Even if India is willing to invest in sports, it will always be a loser in the Olympics. I honestly don't see Indians surpassing Russians, Americans, Chinese, Europeans, Japan or South Korea which often rank very high on the medal list. Not intentionally insulting India but that's my view of how athletic Indians really are. Investing money in sport doesn't automatically create super Indians grabbing gold medals.

See it is one thing to win a medal in a sport like trampoline jumping, another to excel in a real sport like Cricket, Soccer, Tennis, Golf and Hockey. These are 5 of the most popular sports in the world and India trumps China in 4 of them. And it won't change anytime soon. Meanwhile, China can regale the world by winning medals in err - "sports" - like trampoline jumping.

We are far superior to India in everything but cricket.
Try harder, much much harder.

East Asians always come out on top. Shows our IQ level is real. We have high IQ, top PISA tests, top Olympiad, etc.
how are you hypersonic....all going well......I know you are on top..keep up...

International Mathematical Olympiad

This is a disaster for us ! What the fudge, this is the first year when we slip out of top 20 in 59 years of participation to the Olympiad, not to mention that usually we are in the top 10-15.Somebody better have an explanation for this at the Minister of Education.

So now you are blaming the mentality of people who only wants to become doctors/engineers? India is not the only developing country, there are plenty of poor countries which managed to grab gold medals. Black people are known to run very fast that's why they are the champions in this area for example. Now don't tell me there's some Indian Usain Bolt who has never heard of the Olympics or that he rather study than grabbing an Olympic gold. Athletics isn't always a career, Russians are good in volleyball does that mean they can make it as a career? I don't see > 45 years old Russians representing Russia during the Olympics and most likely they won't become rich either. They are not some NBA basketball players earning millions of dollars.
I don't see India ever investing money into sports other than cricket so she can grab Olympic gold medals period, so there's no point debating with you whether Indian has the potential to rank high on the table amongst some great powers. I personally think India does not whether you blame it's your government's fault or the Indian mentality.

Why you chinese are so shit in Cricket though??
