"The bottom line is that the present ruling elites dare not think of crossing any ‘red line’ that Washington demarcates. The US state department in a series of statements has distanced Washington from the Indian positions as regards the situation in Kashmir Valley, India-Pakistan tensions and Baluchistan.
Conceivably, Americans have cautioned our (indian) leadership already against making any precipitate military moves. The kind of brazen military adventures that many self-styled Indian defence analysts are espousing will not get Washington’s approval.
As the Obama administration tiptoes toward the lame duck period, the last thing Washington wants as legacy is an India-Pakistan conflict."

How come Pakistan joins UK and USA in the CENTO in 1954 less than 10 years after independence ?

Pakistan and india are too complicated and too emotional to solve this problem on there own and too much bad blood between.
For Pakistan and india to solve this problem you need political leadership on both sides which hold the will solve this problem no matter what consequence they face.
since UN is the main holder Saner option is
UN deploy its force while indian and pakistani forces are in the area when they are deployed and given full control of that area both countries should remove there forces from area Indian kashmir and Pakistani Kashmir
They let the Kashmiri decide Join Pakistan Join India or Form Free State While UN will protect that area
Until kashmirs are able to Defend themselves against two nuclear powers but even if they form a free government same will happen again Unless there is change in the thinking in all this area
Only solution which works for kashmiries is They Join India or Pakistan
