India's First indigenous aircraft carrier to be launched this December.

As per the information on wiki:

"The Vikrant class is designed to deploy up to 40 aircraft, primarily the Mikoyan MiG-29K and the HAL Tejas Mark 2, including 10 Kamov Ka-31 or HAL Dhruv helicopters."

Livefist: Indian Aircraft Carrier Plods On, Floats
but can india made such a massive giant ship
although they have lot of experience of carrier operating

Why not buddy??The official website of CSL states that they had constructed 100000+ ton cargo carriers in the past.So I don't think that CSL should face any problem in building a 40000 ton ship.By the way, they are the 1st in India to adopt modular ship building method.

Well,I had the same doubt but one thing cleared it all. It's the number of Mig 29Ks/KUBs ordered by IN.IN has till date ordered 45 Mig 29Ks.Now we know that INS Vikramaditya/Gorskov can only carry 16 of them. That leaves us with 29 Mig 29Ks-should be enough to clear all the doubt in one jhatka. What do ya say Sudhir bhai??
If you look at that this type Vikramaditya + IAC both can carry 20 each and 5 for spare or some plan you might need for shoe base operation or you can say for training purpose. coze IN order 45 plane which include 2 seater trainer also.

Its supposed to be a 40,000 ton displacement,as in final fully loaded weight.... ship i guess? I cant find the data on empty weight anywhere.
Now it weight 14,000 tons.

""According to a senior naval functionary, the carrier was ‘technically floated out' as the shipyard needed the dry-dock for ‘some other commercial work.' “The carrier has taken on about 14,000 tonnes. She would now undergo interior outfitting, including the laying of pipes before being dry-docked again in the latter half of next year for integration of the propulsion gear-box, generators and the like,” he told The Hindu""

Wiki says this...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Class and type: Vikrant Class
Type: Aircraft Carrier
Displacement:

CV-01 40,000 tonnes[1]
CV-02 65,000 tonnes (conventionally powered carrier) [1]

Length: 262 metres (860ft)
Beam: 60 metres (197ft)
Draught: 8.4 metres (28ft)
Propulsion: 4 General Electric LM2500+ gas turbines, driving four shafts.
Speed: 28 kn (52 km/h)
Range: 7,500 nmi (13,900 km)
Complement: 1,400 (incl air crew)
Armament: 4x Otobreda 76 mm and various point defence SAM and CIWS
Aircraft carried: 29 Mikoyan MiG-29K + HAL Tejas
+ 10 Ka-31 'Helix' or HAL Dhruv
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It will have 29 Fighter jets and 10 helicopters, which is possible as these ships have most of the aircrafts stored below decks and are jacked up to the flight deck when needed..

This will not be a nuclear powered AC..instead a Kerosene Burning Gas turbine with Ruction gearing turning the underwater Propeller..

Then what did the IN order 45 Mig 29K/KUBs for??16 of them will go onboard INS Vikramaditya.Rest 29 are for what??Care to explain Sir??

45 = 3 x Sqauds, 1 for each carrier, 1 in reserve and training.

Gorshkov was often speculated to carry around 16 Migs + 8 N-LCAs + 8 helis.

IAC 2 actually will be smaller than Gorshkov, but since the latter had to be redesigned, the internal space isn't that big and IAC 1 might be more spacious, to carry up to 30 fighters + 10 Helis. The French CdG btw has a displacement of 42,000 tonnes and carries up to 40 aircrafts as well, so it is possible that IAC 1 will have a comparable airwing size.

Jesus !!!!:woot: that too before time . it was supposed to be floated some time early next year. damn good job:tup:

On the other hand, I believe this Aircraft carrier alone is only India needs to help defeat Pakistan if a war happens after 5-6 years time.

The other 2 Aircraft carrier could be used incase other external threats appear.

Rest assured..Pakistan isnt sleeping..specially the people responsible for defending the country..
They must by already at work to find a much cheaper and practical counter measure...
