God in our case can be anything...if we consider the weapon to be a god (in the sense that it can take life away from someone just like the almighty) or save ones life in situations (just like god), so be it...nothing here to defend!

of course one thing i can sympathize with - a soldier loves his rifle. He goes nowhere without it, because its an extension of him. But you wont find the Joint Chiefs holding a ceremony to bow down to weapons. It's considered idolatry, which is taboo in Islamic societies

India is a very diverse nation of many religions and cultures. Not everyone knows everything about the others. Many Hindus dont know every custom about the religion as well

Shastrapuja is part of our culture, can't the blind fcuk see other weapons there too? Everyone does it.

The idea is to honor one's weapons and seek blessings for them, NOT worship them. You will see people doing the same with cars, jewellery, even cattle.

Some people who called them "Khandayat" in Odisha also worship swords during Durga Puja.
