Nothing to be worried about and the dates seems to be as planed as well.

INS Vikramaditya - planed for delivery in 2012, but induction into full operational service likely only in 2014

IAC1 - planed for delivery in 2014/15, induction into full operational service in 2017

INS Viraat - after 50 years of service, too old and cost-intensive, replaced at least by IAC1, possibly even by the induction of INS Vikramaditya

IAC 2 - planed for delivery in 2017/18, induction into full operational service around 2020


It's totally normal that they had to train and get some more experience with these carriers first, don't forget that the STOBAR design and the fighters are new for IN.
Converting the Viraat back into a helicopter carrier is possible, but after such a long life it will be costly to keep it working and the preferance of IN for LPDs shows, that they don't want this requirement.

Use it as training platform and also let it be positioned only at coastal lines....
Like near South indian coastlines ,mangalore port or in bay of bengal...

The question would be training for what? The new carriers will be STOBAR carriers, so the fighter pilots can't train on it, just like the carrier crew itself, because they can't train the arrasted landings, the new propulsions and systems..., so if at all only helicopter pilots might train on them.

Guys as u can see from long time,navy has said they will retire Viraat by 2014 then they said 2015 now they say 2018,
But every time they refurbish....

I think till 2025 Viraat will be guarding The Indian ocean

No that is not exactly possible (and may be extremely uneconomical in its scope). The view of the stern will bear that out. However, davit-launched LCMs can be added. The Ski-jump can be removed or the void space used for storage. Part of the Hangar deck can accommodate men and material. The rest of the Hangar can accommodate a mix of AEW, ASW and VERTREP Helicopters. The Ship then will have not just Sea-Lift capabilities but be able to provide close Air-Cover as well. The LPDs can carry Helicopters but only for troop-transfer/insertion roles.

It would be pertinent to remember that as the HMS Hermes in RN service, she had a role as 'Amphibious Warfare Vessel' and could embark upto 500 marines in that role. In the role that i can visualise she can carry upwards of a battalion of infantry (max 1000 men) and their eqpt (less vehicles). The vehicles can be carried by the LSTs (mainly) and LPDs (partly).

You forget the important point here! The had to do it, because no replacement was available, but at least 2014 there will be 2 new carriers available to replace it from service.
