Indian Domestic Help's Hand Allegedly Chopped Off By Employer in Saudi Arabia

CHENNAI: The right hand of a 58-year-old Indian woman was chopped off by her employer in Saudi Arabia after she tried to escape the house where she worked as a domestic help, the family of the victim has said.

Seeking help to bring Kashturi Munirathinam back from Saudi Arabia, her family has sought help from the state and central governments.

They say she was harassed, tortured and not even given enough food to eat by the people she worked for.

"When she tried to escape harassment and torture, her right hand was chopped off by the woman employer. She fell down and sustained serious spinal injuries," S Vijayakumari, sister of Munirathinam, told PTI.

She said Kashturi had gone to Saudi Arabia to work as a domestic help only three months ago. The incident happened on the night of September 29.

"Kashturi's employer was angered after she apprised local officials about the harassment she was facing there, she was not even provided food," she said.

DMK lawmaker Kanimozhi has also sent a letter to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj seeking her help.

Her family said they got to know about the incident through agents who sent her to Saudi Arabia. They now have a video message recorded with a mobile phone.

"She has now been hospitalised in Riyadh and is in a serious condition, our appeal is please bring her back home immediately and help in her treatment," she said.

Kashturi's sister lives in Chennai and her family is in their village Moongilarei in Vellore district in Tamil Nadu.

PS: To be honest, apart from all political strategic blah blah agendas, India needs to send a strong message to these people that behave like humans. Don't become Jahiliyas. It's true lot's of blue collar job people stay there but , this is not the way they should treat some one from not their country. Be it India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Philippines.

.
the indian supreme court should demand extradiction of the female employer to india and charge her appropriately.

how can anyone just cut someone's hand?? it is plain criminality.

This happens frequently in Saudi Arabia. I know of person whose Saudi employers in Abu Dhabi (UAE) kidnapped his wife and daughter and sold them as sex slaves. And the police in Abu Dhabi feared taking any action as it would involve the Saudi govt. Almost all ME countries fear Saudi Arabia like a plague.

Go see videos of Saudis beating their domestic workers. Its an eye opener

. . .
these people are truly disgusting, and what happened to the thread about king salman being hospitalized from dementia ?

I hope their oil runs out, ISIS and other jihadis attack them and someone nukes this 7th century nightmare of a kingdom.

i suppose saudia would dare not have done anything against iraqis during saddam's time... after all, he had rocketed saudia during 1990-91... saddam would have made it personal for cases like the uae one your described or for a case similar to the indian lady.

sadly, south asians and south east asians are mentally enslaved to richer countries and generally do not take up cases like this at uno level.

and someone nukes this 7th century nightmare of a kingdom.

the oft-repeated "7th century" was a revolutionary and enlightened time... the corruption was much later... present saudia has nothing to do with 7th century but more to do with the plans of the 1800's british government.

SO

What does Modi Sarkar plan to do about it ?

Lynching people at home is one thing, but protecting citizens abroad ?

I just mean backward savages when I say that, and that is exactly what that fake country is.

. . .
certainly, but why connect it to "7th century"?? i have already corrected that assumption of yours.
sorry, I don't believe for one second that it was an enlightened time. It was a time of savage religious conquest by the sword. Life must have been horrible in the desert back then.

.
So what options does India the growing world power have here? I think Saudis will just ignore India. No one cares about poor Indians.

We want to f**k Porkistan and Saudi together that all Indian wants by heart..
