What's new

Indian Army’s ‘Future Soldier Program’ Will Make Our Soldiers The Most Feared On The Planet

I kind of find it funny that Desert Fighter calls what is standard gear as new or next gen. The photos show nothing new that Indian Army doesn't have or use.

I'm not calling anything new generation here..

Now coming back to your pictures.

Here is what you are posting;

Old vests with webbings,
Old Tin can helmets with camo.

And "Patka" helmet that offers ZERO protection for upper side of the head.. Offering limited protection to ones temples at max..

The so called "old vests" are plate carriers. The tin helmets are actually capable of stopping 9mm as made by this manufacturer.

Patka too has it's uses. It is basically Kevlar wrapped around your head meaning it can withstand 7.62mm rounds. The top can withstand 9mm rounds.

Nowadays other BP jackets are supplemented like

The above "vest".

And there are reportedly two types of webbing out there.

Yeah right ...

It can stop a 9mm with a cloth right ! It has nothing but a clothe on the upper side !

As for stopping 7.62 even ACH etc can't stop that round .. And there is no wonder even the Russian helmets being used by your special forces can't stop it.

Good for you.. Posting an irrelevant pic from some old flag meeting is hardly something to boast about.

The pockets on the webbing are re - attachable. Check the pics to see so many varied positions of webbing pockets.

Thank you for your kind words. BTW has china progressed far on it's F 22 beating J 20 engines?
Fun fact:

The article posted by that chap mentions:

-- At least 100-kilowatt solid-state laser systems, mounted on aircraft and ships, to destroy missiles in their boost phase itself. Status: will take a decade.

DRDO has already tested 100Kw laser to a range of 800m as of 2015

I'd rather trust the manufacturer than an arm chair general.

PS: Only NSG uses that helmet. Even now they are moving to new FAST type helmet

That Because Standard Operating Procedure
Helmets you seen are Deigned By MKU Kanpur

India Soldiers Prefer particular helmet/headgear is called a "Patka" designed by Maj.Gen Vijay Kumar Datta and battle proven in the Kashmir Valley.
Indian Army and CRPF in Kashmir are extremely satisfied with PATKAs. And by the way It looks great.

As for Vest they are very High Quality Produce by MKU

Mostly you are right, but it is not for the lack of resources or money, but the red tapery.

Incorrect.

It is because lack of maintenance of equipment by the individual soldiers. Let us be honest for once.

The equipment costing tremendous amounts is given, but the issue crops up most commonly due to maintaining the equipment thus given. Then we blame our idiocy on bureaucrats exclusively.

India has two companies MKU and TATA that produce BPJs equal to anyone out there. IA doesn't buy them but gives bulk order tenders and later cancels. Now facing Bamboo treatment by DM is buying 50,000 jackets.

Indian Chalta Hai mentality is the reason a country like ours which should have been a first world country by 1990s is voting for an uneducated dept. chief minister in Bihar.

Regular RR troops - Patka offers superior protection against 7.62 compare with any other helmet out there.

India export BPJ and stuff to Turkey and other countries for their security forces.

Helmets - may be, I was talking about their elbow and knee guards and chest rigs.

Here is the standard tactical vest in Indian Army use
View attachment 310875
Note the Molle Webbing lines on it.
I would like to see some pictures of load bearing equipment issued by your Army if you do not mind posting here.

Since when is this standard tactical vest of Indian Army?

That's not a tactical vest but webbing..

Much like this one that was/is phased out by Pak army;

Even these vests are being phased out with new vests produced by POF.
Your web gear is similar ... so what is the big dick contest about?

Those are called vests in Indian Army lingo, and they are right in a sense that you wear them like vests!!A tactical vest doesn't have to an armored one you know.

It has slots for your kevlar plates ... big difference .. we use 2 front 1 back configuration ... usually

No we don't prefer 'patkas'. It offers no overhead production ... sorry.

Please don't make such claims .... !!! We want better head gear. Until and unless you want soldiers to be standing and fighting and not be in prone position, in which case this patka is damn good as it stops an AK-47 at 8 meters .... tested involuntarily ....!!!! LOL!

How the hell am I interested?

I am specifically speaking for this thread .... economic and politic thread this certainly is not.
