Its not that Pakistanis dont fall for fake news and neither do Americans - an entire election was won on fake news. However, never has fake news been used at such official capacity and effort in an attempt to create a false narrative. I think this propaganda is aimed at their own public and, imho, is doing the intended job.

Whether these are story concocted by Gen. G.D Bakshi or some other notable, they are propagating the core ideas i.e Pakistan is supporting Taliban militarily for instance, and convincing their support base.

We may laugh, and I think in many cases the person who is putting this propaganda out knows it may be a lie but their audience has to believe it and it's good enough.

Whether this is good for their own people and country long term, I doubt it. Pumping your people up restricts your own options to act. You have to keep the 'sentiment of the people' in mind when deciding in a democracy and by manipulating the sentiment to such a degree you limit your own choices.

The Indians have China at the gates, and if even Australians are doubting the support of the US in material terms (compensation for loss of economic interest for going against China) then what of the Indians?

It's not necessary for the enemy to physically break you, they just have to make you bleed through terrorism and forcing you to spend high amounts on military and defence rather than development. You lose decades that you wouldn't get back. We've learnt that the hard way and I think the Indians are afraid they may have to do so as well now.

Mind you, these Pakistanis represent the Pak government (as opposed to Indian media who are mostly private enterprises). I think no country will ever reach this humiliation where they are caught lying right on the floor of the UN.
