‘India to send 150,000 troops for anti-Pakistan operations’

.
I think that proverb must have lost something in translation.

It is a story. There was a fool in village. One day his friend, just to extract some enjoyment, said to this fool see that crow has taken away you ear. Fool kept chasing this crow to get his ear, but at last failed and crow disappeared. He came back to home with very sad face, looking to him, his mother asked the reason for sadness, he said today he lost an ear, a crow took it away. His mother said, but I can see both of you ears, havn't you checked your ear before chasing crow....

Any way, i will be the first person to come out at road against any troop india gov sends to Afghanistan. This is not our war and we can not let our people killed with out any reason.

India's moral duty is to support Afghanistan monitory and build neccessary infrastructure....

.
This is not our war and we can not let our people killed with out any reason.

How do you conclude that this not also our war. Isn't there are terrorist activities and bombing in India also? Aren't the terrorist in India, ideology similar to the terrorist that would be fought in Afganistan.

Are the Indians commenting on this thread in the right frame of mind? This 'report' is trash at best. And the dude, dronasomething might be banned, but he made a valid point- **** is better than discussing this. You know that there are no plans and no way that Indian Army would send 150000 troops. At best there would be a couple of thousand more ITBP personnel to protect the Indian workers, embassy's and interests there-i repeat-at BEST.

.
^^ Exactly. Its nothing but a storm in a tea cup.

But then who said that about an idle mind being the workshop of some nice guy. ;)

thats 2 battalions worth of ITBP(?) personnel - what would be the protection ratio per ITBP.

It has been focus of debate for quite some time whether India should send troops to Afghanistan or not. The numbers might vary but the discussion has been going on for some time. Here is a link that may be of some interest:

The point is if US with all the technology at its disposal has not been able to achieve much than what difference if any shall Indian troops have in this scenario especially when they and taliban are to some extent equipped with same type of weapons.

India is not sending troops from the Army to Afghanistan. Period. Its TOO politically sensitive.

Second, its not about technology in Afghanistan. What Afghanistan needs is physical presence and boots on the ground-hundreds of thousands of them to get things right. It needs a Kashmir type deployment.

It is not BS. The report was there two weeks back. Its only that now some people have started speaking about this.

Even if we agree with your claims. Just tell me how many foreign workers are there in Afghanistan ??? And how many army men of their respective countries have sent to Afghanistan for their protection???

Has there been any precedent where a country send her troops be these in lakhs or few thousands to protect her workers and embassies ?????

The only thing is the word "Intrests" for which India is sending her troops to India. And what is Indian intrests there ??? Indeed protecting her assessts and we all know what assests mean.

and why even ITBP????

And how many countries India had sent troops for protection of their embaassies??

There are other conflict or bad zones too other than Afghanistan.

.
It is obvious that India has many interests-if you are implying that India needs ITBP personnel to engage in anti-Pakistan activity, then you are completely wrong. The embassies in Afghanistan(if they do such kind of work) dont need uniformed ITBP personnel.

Its about protecting the embassies from bomb blasts, protecting people of importance there, and the interests. These interests are wide ranging-and include a lot. India is spending a lot of money for Afghan redevelopment-and it is all civilian. They are training the Afghan police, building their strategic highway which links them to Iran and frees them from the Pakistani stranglehold, in rail projects, building their Parliament among a hundred other things.

Indians are in Afghanistan and working on these projects because the GoI assures them their safety in Afghanistan. For that, considering the number of Indians and physical projects and simply the size and scale of the projects India is involved in, you need a sizeable force to protect them.

.
Pakistan won't allow it anyway. Period!

Aren't we jumping the gun by discussing a hypothetical scenario?

This so called report is trash. A conspiracy theory coming from a dubious source.

There will be no takers in India for this and the government just can not take such a decision.

1,50,000 troops! Can a sane person believe such a thing? Leave all else, the logistics itself will be impossible.

.
that such a sane discussion board would even attempt to discuss this for 5 pages in itself is kind of funny.. Even Pakistan has not allocated so much soldiers to fight the WOT, althought the War has come to its own back yard. The content of the news and the headlines in itself merits the news as a prevarication...

:) well we all know why suddenly India needed uniformed personnel there.

1. There thousands and thousands of NATO forces in Afghanistan better equipped then Indian army.
How many blasts it has succeeded to protect the people from ??

2. Everyone currently present in Afghanistan have wide range of intrests Indians are no acception.

3. can you tell me the exact number of Indian/s workers or top level Indians who had been either killed or kidnapped in Afghanistan or harmed in anyway ????

There will be hardly few and that too mostly drivers and in one or two cases some civil engineers. But the number hardly croses the double digit.

So why India suddently felt the need to send her army to protect them.

4. If we accept the Indian claim it means tommorrow some western country of China will also be justified to send few thousands army soldiers to protect her workers engaged in projects in troubled regions of India??

5. Above all India is not much in love with Afghanistan for welfare projects. All these investements are not result of any humanitarian love for Afghans rather it is the strategic investment India is doing there for her own intrests.
