India snubs China, to attend Nobel ceremony

.
Ignoring the emotions and adrenalin running high on this thread.

i have question

Initially India did side on with China on this Nobel boycott issue.

But now the stance seems different.

Only event is suspect is responsible for it is what was probably learn or interpreted in the wikileaks

What do you guys think?

There's a nice story that you might know of.

My parents are Buddhist, so I've heard variations of all these stories before. I'm not Buddhist by the way so spare me any such lectures.

By the way I was not surprised at all at India's decision, you can check all the other threads on this topic. I expected exactly this reaction, how could I not, considering the typical mentality that already existed.

Tell me what did you expect from neutral countries like Turkey, Brazil, South Africa etc. India matters as much as they matter to China. All of them yield same if not more influence to world's geo-politic as does India.

Even Russia which is an ally of China made it clear that the reason of them not attending the ceremony ISN'T controversial peace prize.

Funny you believe that. I've notice the angrier you get the more intentionally dishonest you get.

so basically that means we r running in circles,we ignored u,u ignored us,we ignored u,then again if that was the prevailant norm, then why this kind of reaction,it was bound to happen

What kind of reaction? My contention is China has the right to play this game, even if it mean running in circle.

By attending that ceremony, India is conveying a clear message that she is not willing to stop, then let us just run in circle.

But what I hear from some Indian members is China should calm down, India just attends the ceremony to please Norway, nothing else.

What a crap!

For you Abir, sure.

The big picture is that China and India are geopolitical rivals, and this is borne out of our close geographical proximity as well as the expansion of both spheres of interest.

The polls (Pew global attitudes for one) clearly show that the majority of people in China and India both dislike and distrust the other country.

All the actions so far taken by both sides reinforce that fact. I have read the Indian media from time to time, and I have seen the almost pathological hatred that comes out against us.

I don't think Indian media and general populace have any stake at policy making. Why I'm saying this, because China doesn't figure out in any political party's doctrine. However Pakistan does.

If they are rival, then they expected to act for their benefits only, isn't it?

.
In Tibet, do you think that China will ease on India's position after 2008? Everyone knows what happened in 2008, that wanted me to explain.

I didn't find India having to do anything much with the 2008 protests.

If you have an article ,suggesting otherwise please do post.

Thanks in advance

It's a self-sustaining cycle of distrust on both sides that will continue.

I personally think this is a trivial matter, not be too stressed, may chinese Members be disappointed in India's attitude? Then, I think you better get used to. Better go to a better understanding on the Indians, in their way, this is a good place to understand the Indian way of thinking.

The sentiments of the population in general always count in the minds of the decision makers.

Is it true that China issues are not included in the manifesto of any Indian political party?

Sigh. ..

So much for the asian century. If this is any indication Sino-Indo govts are planning to interact, the west has nothing to be worried about.
Sadly, the blame rests more on the indian side for letting emotions get the better of them, although chinese aren't immune to it either.

I'm genuinely disheartened to see senior and respected members going at each other like this.

.
I think India has needlessly been dragged to west's conflict with China. We don't really care if west has a beef with china or vice versa, they should sort that out by themselves. Why dragging India in between, why not any other country like Brazil, Germany, Turkey etc!

i fully agree with this point.
for this particular issue, if india choose not attending it means nothing to india--the world will understand the reason and won't go cursing india, but it means a lot to china and india wants a good relation with china, no?
