India snubs China, to attend Nobel ceremony

.
Norway, used the K-word and called it a home grown movement.

Honestly Norway is an irrelevant busybody, who inherited a set of prestigious scientific prize that happen to come with some pretty arbitrary prizes like Literature and peace.

So they decided to use the selection of the non-scientific prizes (and one can argue the scientific ones as well) to further their world view.

Well, India is entitled to ignore Chinese sensitivities, and China is entitled to do the same to India, that is what I was trying to say.

Some Indian members suggest China should just let it go, that is hilarious.

This time India disrespects our concerns, we will get back to you next time. I just hope there won't be some thread by Indians condemning China ignoring your sensitivities.

blocking ban on terror groups was chinese idea....and yes we condem any support to terrorisum.

I'm kind of surprised at some of the reactions from Chinese members here. Most of them don't like India including two who have recently converted to that view and yet expect India to go out of its way for China.

Going to a Nobel prize ceremony is normal, deciding not to go is a snub to the hosts & would require extreme national interest to be at stake. I don't see that to be the case here. Why on earth should India go out of its way for a country which didn't care about Indian sensitivities on the stapled Kashmir visa issue or while denying visa to a serving General of the Indian army or indeed as wikileaks shows, on sanctions against terrorist organisations?

Weird then that so many find it surprising that India might take the stand it supposedly has. That is not unexpected, the opposite would have been.

which symbolic gesture china like to display by blocking UN ban on terror groups responsible for mumbai attack....

You are entitled to attend the ceremony and we are entitled to displease India, that is what i am trying to say.

No Chinese members here are questioning India's decision to attend the ceremony, we are just amused by the idea that China should just let it go after being "snubbed" by India.

Not sure why India is being singled out when no influential country deciding not to attend the ceremony for the reason China want them to(Russia is not going for different reason which has been conveyed to Nobel committee as early as November). Like Bang Galore said, going to the ceremony is normal, while not going would be considered a disrespect to Nobel committee. While I don't agree with various peace prizes that has been given to undeserving, but Nobel prize still draws respect from all spectrum of society.

and chinese think they will keep veto and be supported woildwide on a bigger issues on blocking ban on terror groups...and these two funny people think they are joking on me...

could be only after china decided to block the ban on the terror groups responsible for mumbai attack....
india also only change the vote on iran at UN after they try to drag their legs too far..

but to try to side a terror group this time....

Like I said before, it's the big picture.

Also it's fantastic timing what with Wen Jiabao visiting soon.

i actually agreed with some of india members here on the point that chinese gov is a bit over reacted for this small issue. but then i had a second thought and think chinese gov is doing the right thing to send out a strong signal to the west hey enough is enough we are not going to take this lightly this time. chinese gov has been taking this nobel peace price sh!t for so long ever since dalai got it but didn't put in good efforts making too much troubles to the nobel peace price committe and the like behind. seems they are changing to adapt an aggressive strategy now because the old 'ignore' strategy didn't work. today's china has enough economic power to make a difference-- countries have to take side for this small issue, nobody will feel comfortable in this kind of situation. when nobody feels comfortable in a game ppl may start think if it's worth to do this game again in the future.

.
No problem but then why concern for China is being expected from India?

I've said this more than once but I couldn't give two sh*ts really. It's the big picture that counts.

I don't expect, nor do I believe, that anything good will come out of Indian relations with China.

Yes, but that's just a coincidence.

Would you please give me some insight about the big picture also?

I have said in another thread, the attitude taken by Indian towards the terrorist who are killing innocent Chinese is the attitude I am gonna take towards terrorists who are killing innocnet Indians.

Blocking a ban on an orgnization that is yet to be called terrorists is much better than harbouring a group of terrorists.
