Unless the Chinese have deployed long-term/significant military assets to India's backyard, a UN dispute does not warrant a military-esque response. As mentioned earlier, this is merely an exercise and should be interpreted as such.

People should calm down, this is just a exercise

Fleet that has left for SCS

Making such drills "routine" runs the chance of the Chinese reciprocating in the Indian Ocean, but given the economic commensalism between India & China, both should be cool-headed enough to avoid that.

As MilSpec mentioned, this is an exercise; a symbolic one, perhaps, but an exercise nonetheless.

But then China is deploying it submarines in Indian ocean on a monthly basis. Spotting of Chinese submarines in Andaman sea is a regular occurrence.

China should be careful, in an attempt to project power, in other's backyards, it might end up having a lot of player's in its own.

The alleged Chinese submarines have been in the Indian Ocean for years now. If India wanted to exact a response, a show-of-force would've been conducted ages ago.

Wrong to say back yard or front yard ... they have their interests .. we have ours. That is why both navies just keep an eye on each other while in respective areas, be it SCS for China and Indian Ocean for India. Both have their interests to safeguard. We keep an eye on US fleet too .....!

India can choke Malacca, the Chinese SCS whenever they want.

Firstly it is Indians, we take our own time, in making up our minds.

Secondly, PLAN has increased its presence in Indian ocean in the recent past.

Malacca is the Chinese jugular, SCS hold little significance for India.

Or rather this exercise is just what it is: an exercise. No need to over-interpret this expected move.

Massive Respect.... Very aggressive stand my india in the region(SCS) so far . Time to ramp up our new strategy with actual message ! Provocation will lead to major escalation ... Vietnam and India should enter agreement to enter war if any attacked by china . Same like Nato pacts...
what would be that new strategy you refereed too?

Do you even know why SCS is important to India in the broader strategic picture? Think and think hard .......

Get ready .. you asked for it !!!!!!! LOL!!!
hey seriously, i would like to learn about this "new strategy" of India, i guess it is something related to SCS. Will like to know more.

Offcourse it is an exercise, but that does not mean , there isn't a sublingual message in there.

China is much bigger and much stronger country, it would be foolish of Indians to goad China. However it is equally foolish of Chinese to provoke India, as India sits on a Chinese lifeline and Americans are just itching to recruit Indians against China.

Here we have two of the strongest Asian Navies, marking each's territory.

SCS is not an Indian lifeline, however it is important for Indians to project power in SCS, to deliver a simple message.

"If you can play in our backyard, so can we, in your's".
