India learned the hard way with INS Vikramaditya

Wait.... What is this about learning the hard way? Vikra will be the most powerful aircraft carrier in Asia! Shining India shupa-powa never needs to learn anything. :enjoy:

vikky was a deal which was milked by russians. simple. the idea that russia is our special friend no longer applies to us was affirmed. building capability for servicing vikky is up to us.

ussr made some good friends. both china and modern russia will be wise to look beyond providing arms to those fighting yankees.

Otherwise the IN revealed it cost to public without even considering the scope of work.In your perspective it is right.First of all noone give you an ACC.And considering mig 29k deal in to this .This was a good deal. But incompetency in our Govt technical circle is revealed.

There is an element of incompetence there. But it is not just that. Assessing a laid-up or mothballed ship for repair/refurbishment to operational status is not easy at all. So many surprises spring up when equipment are opened up for closer inspection than can be previously imagined. Renewal of internal cabling is one such item. Though it may not be the most expensive, the amount of work associated and involved can be staggering. Then the cost of labor alone increases exponentially approaching the cost of material. This may not even be quantifiable in the initial assessment.
This sort of thing has happened time and again the world over, even in the USN. Have the Chinese ever spoken about the work and the real cost of re-activating Varyag?

Chinese is still learning more about ACC and its deployment. And after all they dont have a practice of publishing their details.
In INS Vikramaditya case the usual thing of stretching legs before sitting in a chair is happened .And we lost time and money. Our officials dont inspect closely but completely depend on Russians.

Sreekumar; why don't the Chinese publish their details? :azn:
And your last sentence does not make much sense. Do you even have an idea who inspected the ship? Do you have any idea how a ship inspection is done? Did India have even alternatives to the Gorshkov, then?
So, please do not jump to hasty conclusions; the faults and errors were on all sides.

Did India ensured proper toilets in Vikramaditya? Or the Indian navy soldiers will have to learn the hard way of answering the call of nature. Don't make Indian ocean another ganges.
Padma. Since we have your country by the balls. we can use BD as the official Defecating ground.

I dont know more about it.All I am saying is that We need to more careful about such deals in future. In here IN might underestimate the scope of the project.Otherwise they would reveal all its problems and correct estimation and expense during the initial stage of this deal.

Now imagine, recently some of recent Indian ships were in fire accidents and other damaged due to poor maintenance records.

What if this aircraft carrier INS Vikra (whatever long weird names) would be in another accident again, you will have to pay triple cost and travel to Russia for emergency? Russia will say buckle up to pay more or get lost.

You are descendant of Viktramaditya, Just your forefather were forced to convert doesn't mean that you are descendant of Arab dacoits.. Give respect to your elders..

Sigh! Mate even our indigenous Vikrant is costing us ~4 Billion dollars so expecting Russians to deliver Vikramaditya after upgradations in less than 2.3 billions is anything but wise in our part. $2.3 Billion is reasonable considering ~4 Billion worth Vikrant which may even overrun this estimate by the time it will be ready.

soory but BD pole vaulters are not eligible to be employed as toilet cleaners on Board INS Vik. !

Don't worry we'll make sure our ships dump its wastes right by your coastline, so next time you eat your fish, think about that wonderful taste and aroma.

any more than 2.3 and it would have come down to a hard no. but then navy changed specs too..

vikrant should have been decommisioned if we had a choice. i think vikrant should be a bad choice in a conflict.
