India is evaluating options beyond dialogue and diplomacy against China

The question is that the tents are in China side of LAC according to Chinese, but not so according to Indians. So this first need to be iron out. Otherwise, its pointless to say who is right or wrong. Why not draw a line in the middle of the two perceived LAC and resolve the issue.

nope, tent is not "Chinese side of LAC".China is just playing it as they know exactly where LAC lies..They are not as dumb as you think.and thats why they are "Trying to solve it",in their language. thats the ploy to create another ruccus to capture some more land.Every Border meeting marks each point of discussed teritory, while other sections has Status Quo.tell me,how come they suddenly come inside 19 km inside the border and erect a tent while they know exactly where it lies??

WE INDIANS ARE READY FOR A WAR. ARE U?

Stop trolling dude and as per my view both sides has diffrent view of LAC and 1st india built a post in responce china erected tents so the best way to avoid conflict is that both side should dismantle thier positions from the disputed area and just patrol as they do always in that region.
Peace

This guy actually downloaded the pic, edited it, uploaded it on photobucket and then posted it here. Height of joblessness. :omghaha: Ab bolega Indians obsessed hain. :laughcry:

That would be an act of war since India would be declaring that territory to be Indian territory under Indian jurisdiction.

As it is, even India does not claim that China is in Indian territory, but disputed territory.

According to the Indians (an Indian News video I've watch earlier on), this is their last option if all else fails. India will encircle the PLA to cut off their supply route and that should instigate an Act Of War.

Spineless UPA government will do nothing!!!!

chynese playing cheap tricks... they never had history of sharing Ladakh nor the aksia chin... a fake country who makes fake maps and fake goods... lol.... they claimed entire SCS with so called nine dashed line suddenly.... they are biggest headache for the most of Asian people... except two countries.... they will not let others to develop but they will eat others alive... a monster growing in our neighborhood...

A complete BS!

Ladakh is called "Little Tibet". It is more Tibet than India.

Get the reality right, buddy!

Indian Security Committee Discusses Chinese Border Incursions

NEW DELHI — Indian Army chief Gen. Bikram Singh briefed the Cabinet Committee on Security May 1 on the level of Chinese intrusion into Indian territory. The committee is the highest governmental body to take decisions on security issues.

Military tension between India and China has heightened since April 15 when India accused China of intruding nearly 10 miles inside Indian territory in the upper terrain of the Himalayas at an altitude of 17,000 feet.

Both countries are engaged in hectic diplomatic engagements to ease the tension but no headway has been reported. The standoff on the border intrusion comes ahead of the planned visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to India May 20.

The dispute between India and China involves the longest contested boundary in the world. China claims 92,000 square kilometers of Indian territory .

The border between India and China is currently defined by a 4,056-kilometer Line of Actual Control (LAC), which is neither marked on the ground nor on mutually acceptable maps. Efforts have been made to establish a recognized LAC since the mid-1980s, but little headway has been made.

India has been improving infrastructure along the border with China and is building new roads and airports. Special troops are being trained and new weaponry purchased for deployment along the higher reaches of the Chinese border.

The two countries fought a brief battle over a boundary dispute in 1962.

I wouldn't read too much into Indian media. The Indian government is a lot more sensible than the media.

The picture doesn't mention if Indian post has been there at Raki Nala or been erected recently

No, but the DNA India article suggests that "fortified" positions in the disputed zone were the trigger for PLA's actions. The whole problem seems to be that India/China don't even agree on each other's perceived LAC.

The peaceful resolution to this crisis can be achieved by agreeing on the LAC.

India erected permanent post on its side of the border

That's the problem. India believes that territory is on the Indian side of the Chinese LAC; China doesn't.

It means both countries don't even agree on each other's LAC, and at least resolving the issue of the LAC -- without conceding the larger claim -- would resolve this crisis.

But the Indian continue to down play Chinese views. As a result, there will be no progress until this perception is rectified.

There is a tug of war between the Indian diplomats on the one hand, and the Indian army + sensationalist media on the other. It is interesting that the Indian military/intelligence apparatus is undermining their own government by "leaking" information and playing this out in the open media.

This Indian military is trying to use the media to rile its people up. It will force the hands of the politicians. There is a reason that there are barely any coverage in the western media. Its because all the issues take place in the disputed area. So the only solution is for everyone to step back and agree upon the LAC that is unambiguous. India would not do that now as it would be perceived as weak by its media and its media only. All other people and nations see that as common sense and strength, not weakness. So the question is if Indian government is strong enough to override the military and the media and agree with China to do a mutual retreat from the disputed area.
