India has almost wiped out extreme poverty: International Monetary Fund

They may be masters of yours. Our second grade intellectuals rules the countries you are refering to. You must have taken coaching from an Indian teacher if you had studied in any good university.
My naïve PDF contributor of no substance go away which ever hole you came from and you are no body to me. I have been to the top UK universities and they have got top World rankings and done my 3 degrees including Ph.D. for a reason to achieve and better myself and contribute to the world and certainly have. Thats why I never had taken part in any technical nitty gritty of any kind.
I have plenty of Indians who are working under me and I have got total respect for them for their work. As far as Indian poverty is concerned, few Indians are enriching themselves and then closing their eyes from the real India as they are few rung up the ladder. Coming up with these tall claims only makes us laugh accepting the facts is not the Indians strong point so you are no different. So have a good day and get back to your dream world as tomorrow will be another day for your day dreaming.

You exposed your born and bought, your parenting snd schooling in first sentence itself. Go and discuss some one like you. Your writting exposes in which discipline you are qualified.

The above article is from an indian newspaper so likely to be FAKE news as india is the BIGGEST propaganda and FAKE news factory in the world:

Is there any evidence from INDEPENDENT, GENUINE, RELIABLE, IRREFUTABLE and HONEST sources that confirm india has wiped out "extreme poverty?".

This is IMF repost and naturally unreliable for you.

In none of the slums, thrre is any hunger issue.

Can you post the original imf link?

OK, good and I tend to believe in this on the whole. There are still 10s of millions going hungry each night due to corruption and bad logistics but this is down from 100s of millions 15-20 years ago.

The problem with India is that far too many of the poor are reliant on government handouts in order to be able to afford 3 square meals a day and pay their bills.

India needs to grow its basic industries like textiles in order to be able to provide the 10s of millions of jobs to allow the poorest to lift themselves out of poverty. The poor need to be able to work to provide for their basic needs and not rely on government handouts.

over population...
Atleast we are not at our throats and wasting more resources, the flawed democracy gives most people a chance to blow off steam.
We need to halve our population.

You mean the people in those slums can afford two eggs each daily like Mukesh Ambani easily can but he won't because he's an unthinking vegetarian ? How do you know many those slum people can afford even three meals ?

You can look at a large population another way.

There is more than enough fertile land in India to probably feed twice the population with recommended daily calorie intake of 2-2,500 calories.

Remember India lacks in yield and food logistics and so as this improves then more food will be available. Other thing about India is that there are a lot of vegetarians and others that eat meat only do so sparingly. Meat requires far more resources to produce than plant food.

Rather than look at the large population as a handicap, think of it as an asset but you need to educate all of then to a minimum level and provide the infrastructure and jobs as well. Large population means much larger tax revenues and better economies of scale.

Go and see some good psychiatrist. From Where does Ambani and eggs come in? I know because it is reported by IMF.

its a very big discussion.
Bottomline is that for the majority to have a good life rather than just getting by , we have to reduce our population.
Over populated states like Up , bihar, MP, etc are the ones that are badly governed, not attracting enough industry, same old politics, with the erstwhile rich states like Punjab also moving to the middle of the pack due to missing the high paying IT and financial services bus and unproductive politics.
These poor states export labor to other states, results in stress on better off states, societal tensions, etc. Inter state migration has to become minimal with most people getting gainful work in their own states.
Good thing is that India's reproductive rate is down to 2.0 , which is considered no growth. But its lopsided, with the poor states having 3.5 while better off having 0.8. So uneducated, unskilled population increases and becomes a load on the minority earning and paying taxes.

Do you know that Ambanis are not only vegetarian but they do not allow any Non-veg product to be sold from their super store?

You mean those decent Indian teachers in the West who organized the Demolishing Global Hindutva conference and were given rape threats and death threats by the Hindutvadis ?

Go and see some good psychiatrist. From Where does Ambani and eggs come in? I know because it is reported by IMF.

Get your Supreme Leader IMF to get into those slums then and know of the Indian middle class poverty and let them see the reality of India. You live in India, the IMF doesn't, yet you are denying the reality just to fulfill your quota of Hindutvadi propaganda. You are being dishonest. Forget the quack psychiatrists and simply wake up and join a progressive movement like the Communists. I gave you my own father's case in post# 34 yet you come up with idiocy ?

1. No at our throats ? Calls for killing two million Muslims at the earliest is not being "at our throats" ? People engaging in artificial, dog-eat-dog competition for education and employment is not being "at our throats" ? Such things.

2. What resources are being invested in the citizens by the government in the first place that you speak of "wasting more resources" ? Modi is wasting resources in building his new PM palace and on other unnecessary things while :

3. India is not a democracy at all. Please read this post of mine to know what is the meaning of democracy, which is not and which system is.

We need to halve our population.

I agree. I propose sending most Indian males to gulags in Antarctica and the remotest part of Australia. Will allow the remaining Indian males to remake India into an advanced, evolved and harmonious society and contribute to humanity.

Do you know that Ambanis are not only vegetarian but they do not allow any Non-veg product to be sold from their super store?

And why do they do that ?

India needs to grow its basic industries like textiles in order to be able to provide the 10s of millions of jobs to allow the poorest to lift themselves out of poverty. The poor need to be able to work to provide for their basic needs and not rely on government handouts.

The millions of new Indian middle class people are living in middle class poverty. They can afford daily food but become indebted for years when they have to avail of basic services like housing, healthcare and education. To avail of healthcare they either have to have that atrocious thing called medical insurance ( I mentioned my father's case in post# 34 ) or get crowdfunding websites to collect the money for treatment and many times this is unsuccessful or suffer for years or die. And you use the words "Not rely on government handouts" in the manner of a callous Capitalist. A government that does not provide the basic facilities like housing, basic food, water, electricity, healthcare and education for free has no right to exist.

Most of the studies on poverty seem to be affected by a bias. It could be inadequate data, writer‘s intent and affiliation, motivated content. This is true not only for individuals but governments too that want to portray a picture that suits them.

Having travelled across the country extensively (including rural areas) there are certain aspects that appear very clear. The general levels of well being have increased multifolds. A large section of society can now afford things that they couldn’t even dream just a decade back. The houses on the main road in my mohalla didn’t have even two wheeler just about 20 years back now have two cars for each house. And this is not a posh locality but lower middle income kind of people.

But there are swaths of poverty that can‘t be ignored. Daily wagers, household help income hasn't increased the way it has increased for organised sectors.

Sadly the rural India remains at the bottom of this divide of poverty/riches. With land parcels dwindling with new generations, farming remains a hand to mouth venture. This would pose the biggest challenge considering farming being the main source of jobs/income in India.

VkdIndian bhai, you are incorrectly observing what is really a pretense prosperity. Firstly, to set the base argument let alone two cars not a single personal vehicle ( car or two-wheeler ) should be allowed. Secondly, those two cars or one car or one car and one two-wheeler per family, they exist because of the overflowing existence of private banks which give out vehicle loans and home loans, that too on interest, which the loan takers have to keep repaying for years, perhaps decades, because even basic human rights like housing is not free in India because of which these things happen :

I could be wrong but not completely.

Not everyone buys capital goods on loans only. People have enough disposable income now to think beyond basics of life. People are able to get aspirational now. Which was not so just 2 decades back.
Even if private banks are doling out largesse would have a limit. Moreover the example I gave was more of an anecdotal one, presuming that other FMs would have also come across similar instances. This is just indicative of a divide where some people have more and more to spare while others are tottering at the edge. And the edge I am talking about is our farming community and the unorganised sector which worries me and makes me sad. Organised sector incomes have increased multi folds over last 20 years. But in the same ratio for labourers, farmers and semi skilled workers. That seems to be the reason that few can afford much more while others have remained at the same place they were a decade back.

These are my general observations. If someone does a doctoral study then he might have an in-depth observation and understanding. This is a complex subject and as I said in my previous post, an observer’s views could be influenced by various factors.
