That doesn't mean that they are able to verge war on anyone in the world. Only two countries US & Russia are capable to do so, slowly Chinese also catching up. Rest all including we,UK,french,Germans,iIsrael,pakist Pa and Iran are just regional powers capable of verge war on its neighbours.

We all saw the recent exercises between Japan India and USA in Indian Ocean.

China will be put in its place when the need arises.

China has zero support there are on ttheir own.

You can push the little countries in south China sea.

It all depends on where & how the war is fought,

If it is fought in Indian ocean yes India has a higher chance to defend and cripple the adversary.
India's supply lines are not only short but also can fall back on coastal airfields for more air power. China needs to bring 3x power to take on India in Indian ocean and pray that their supply lines are not disrupted.
If the war is for short duration then it will be a war with no winners as both sides will have reserves to fight it out.
