What's new

India Developing, but still a long way to go

I can see what he's trying to say about PPP. Let's say we have 20 dollars (1200 rupees) . That will buy you a worker for only 1 hour in the US. Meanwhile , in India, that same 20 dollars could buy you at least 10 workers for 1 hour. Thus , with like 50 million dollars , you can build probably 1 flyover in the US , while many more in India. So 50 million dollars could be like 200 million in PPP terms (just as an example).

All things combined, doesn't translate to such a large difference in reality. Compare the prices of houses, or total cost of infrastructure projects in India and west. Surely not 10-100 times difference?
.
Now that its is almost certain that India will have high growth rate with new government in place, I was wondering what will be size of India's economy in 10 years with average growth rate of 10% ? How long till India surpasses Japan to become world number 3 ; less than a decade perhaps? That's very close.

A generation ago, back in '91, India was bankrupt.
India's now headed to the top of the pile, from bottom-of-the-pyramid.

1-2 ka 4. UK, Japan, Oz, Korea Taiwan, Singapore or Dubai Vs. India; where's the comparison?

Today's BJP, or Modi's party is builder party. Think cement stocks, Pakistani Cement stocks ;).

@Bombaywalla

I visited mumbai some days ago. It's a great city with vibrant people. But what i noticed is that there is just too many slums, and most of them are muslims so i guess they are bangladeshi infiltrators, something should be done.

And you didn't contact me? Alrighteee then! The slums clusters are seeing a reduction in numbers, especially along the highways, in the island city, and around the airport, which leaves me feeling optimistic that within the decade, slum pockets across much of the city will have almost certainly been eradicated.

Also the roads are excellent on main routes but the connecting roads are terrible. For ex: I went from Chandivali to Hiranandani, both these areas have good roads but the router connecting them has terrible bumpy roads. Compared to that Delhi is far better in roads.

The suburbs (in some areas) are absolute bollocks when it comes to minor roads, but like everything else in this city/country, that too is changing. Skyscrapercity.com will give you detailed updates on minor road developments across the city and 'burbs. Delhi's road system is fantastic - I just wish they would drive like human beings, though. ;)

And the view from Sealink was just fantastic, one of a kind in South Asia.

Thank you thank you :yay:

Mysore- India's second cleanest city.....few organisations are working hard to make it India's cleanest again...
about development in the city, there is lot of overall development in the city compared 10 years ago...before there used to be lot of power cuts but now 24hrs power supply,decent roads, poverty is reduced etc...in short we have decent infrastructure but politicians need to focus on future development because of increase in migration of people from other parts of the county especially from Rajasthan & TN.....people are living a decent,peaceful life.....
