India: Dangerous heat to intensify this week after arriving unusually early
A dangerous, widespread heat wave will continue across India this week, putting millions of people at risk for heat-related illnesses. Intense heat has arrived unseasonably early across India, and no relief is expected in the near future. "Most of India will reach high temperatures at or above 38 C (100 F)," AccuWeather Meteorologist Eric Leister said. The exceptions will be the coastal areas and the Himalayas of northeastern India. "Along the coast, very humid conditions will make it feel even hotter," Leister said. Temperatures will soar as high as 41-43 C (105-110 F).

The highest temperatures across the country will occur across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Maharashtra where highs during the middle and end of the week will range from 43-46 C (110-115 F).

The combination of how widespread and long-lasting the heat will be will significantly raise the threat for heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Anyone that must spend time outdoors is encouraged to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks.

Very warm nighttime conditions will only heighten the risk for heat-related illness. The elderly should be closely monitored for any signs of distress.

Any strenuous activities should be avoided during the midday and afternoon hours, the hottest times of the day.

This intense heat will be similar to what is experienced in late April or May ahead of the monsoon. March is typically a more comfortable time of the year.

Any relief from the heat is expected to be short-lived, and the months leading up to the arrival of the monsoon will yield several dangerous heat waves across India.

Hundreds of people die each year due to excessive heat across India. That number can rise into the thousands during the most extreme heat waves.

Govt should lookout for Permanent solutions instead of shortsighted plans.

Preference should be given to planting & protecting trees, stop deforestation and leveling hills should avoided to protect environment.

Its pity that during times of Kings & Rajas they gave priorities to natural environment while development infrastructures but now a days cutting trees to widening roads & leveling century old ponds & hills are considered development.

You guys will not believe. But I actually lost over 2 kilos in just body fluids over about 50 kms of my morning cycle ride. That too 6:20 to 8:35 in the morning. Before the real heat.

Felt so weak and totally sucked out. Multiple glasses of salty cold nimbu paani needed. Got to start earlier. Like 5:30 and be done by 7:30 latest.

Yep It's all rise and shine by 6:30 and this time the sun is really really hot compared to few years back when you would have a gradual change from winters to spring and then slowly that hot weather ........... but lately its a direct jump from cold to hot.

Yup, am a quick healer. Don't think the auto guys jaw is going to heal too quick though. The van guy got an elbow in his neck.

Yeah, bad habit from childhood. Mom tried everything. You should see them in exam season ....

I was not on my motorcycle. I was on my bicycle. These basturds can only bully cyclists, because beesee everyone else is faster than them! So this chu comes out from a side road on to the main road where I am heading straight. Gunning. Good speed, some low to mid 30s. Chu sees me, eye to eye contact. He can see I have acknowledged his presence but have decided that I'm faster, have the straight line, and am going straight. Chu gets horny. He accelerates, sticks out his dirty black hand literally in my face (that's how close he came), and cuts in front of me. And then he finds a big bus in front of him at the crossroad, and not able to go anywhere, he brakes. With a cyclist doing 30 kmph with V brakes on aero rims a foot behind him!!!!!

Words start. His type of residence etc. is dished out (jhopadpatti). Then he makes the mistake of scaring the gora saab and getting out of the auto .... lol. Poor chap. Had no idea where the goar saab grew up and how many such racials he could take on his own at one time. Pretty funny sight. Him being hammered in the middle of the road, running across the road, trying to look for a stone or something to defend himself with, finding nothing in desperation he picks up his phateechar leather chappals. Bas aukat dikha di. Uske liye usko aur do jad diye beesee.

Its not so much only tension. Sign of very intelligent guys. Thinkers. Oftentimes, overthinkers. :)
