The middle class use AC for a few hours and then when the room is cool, they use the fan.

The upper middle class use AC.

i have only experienced 39-40 degree before in my city, usually 2-3 days per year. It used to be 5-10 days per year, don't know why it has been getting cooler these years. But I think the most terrible weather is not heat, 30 degree with 100% humidity is way more unbearable than 40 degree with 50% humidity. My city is called one of the 4 hot pots in China not because of the number of barometer, but because of humidity from rivers and lakes. I will start using A/C when the number hit 32 degree.
