India Asks US Not to Give USD 860 Million Aid to Pakistan

India today asked the US not to give USD 860 million aid including USD 265 million for military hardware to Pakistan, saying all such aids go directly into anti India activities.

“Our position on this has been made clear on a number of occasions. We believe that all such aids actually go directly into activities directed against India. It should not be given,” External Affairs Minister Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said when asked about the proposed US aid of USD 860 million.

Earlier this week, the Obama administration proposed USD 860 million in aid for Pakistan, including USD 265 million for military hardware, which it said would help the country fight terrorists, secure nuclear weapons and improve ties with India.

While there was no mention of Pakistan in President Barack Obama’s budgetary proposals, Secretary of State John Kerry in his proposals said the budget includes USD 859.8 million towards sustaining ties with Pakistan and making progress to “disrupt, dismantle and defeat violent extremist groups”.

“The requested funding will support the country’s counter- insurgency missions, and bolster stability, energy access, economic growth, and social reform,” Kerry said in a letter accompanying his proposals on February 9.

Rude striker I will tell you that Fight Against Terrorism is always very very welcome & India always Salutes any activity that makes peoples life easier & happier! However, Pakistan's so called Fight Against Terrorism is very funny & follows the British Principle of " Divide & Rule".

Pakistan differentiated between " Good Terrorists" & " Bad Terrorists" . Pakistan has nurtured Terrorists for last 40 years! Now certain terrorist organisation like Taliban has grown International & don't always listens to Pakistani Think Tank. These " Non followers" become " Bad Terrorists" & Pakistan fights against these segment.

However, those who focus their targets against India & participates in a dedicated manner following Pakistani Think tank's policy at Kashmir are labelled as " Good Terrorists".

They should pay attention to their own weapons acquisitions then and stop funding TTP and Baloch terrorism in Pakistan and agree to demilitarizing Siachen without the ridiculous condition of validating the AGPL.

So cool your nerves down and divert the cash flow towards general public instead of generals.

The subject of this thread (and the F-16 sale) is US aid and CSF reimbursements being protested by India. This money is specifically for funding Counter terrorism operations in Pakistan and for the purchase of military hardware. Economic assistance and aid is separate, so your contention that 'this money should go towards the general public instead of generals' is flawed because military aid and assistance is specifically for military purposes.

Also, almost $3 Billion annually is lost through the major State run enterprises such as Pakistan Steel, Pakistan Railways, PIA etc. (almost half of Pakistan's annual defence budget). The need of the hour is to privatize all such State run enterprises and pump this $3 Billion into health, education and infrastructure.

We need better governance from the elected government, not pointless rhetoric about generals vs general public.

Three points.

1. India is big country, whatever they do, will look big to us of course even if they're doing it normally. Their defence budget is around 2.2% of GDP. Where as defence budget of Pakistan is around 3.5%. It gives some idea and my last post with joke is more relevant.

2. Stop funding TTP and mujahideen, here we trap in cycle again. Chicken was first or egg. Please suggest ways to go out of it instead repeating it again and again.

3. If you had captured Siachen first, were you ready to demilitrize it on demdnd? For that matter can you demilitrize 'P.o.K' Azad Kashmir?

Can India mind its own business? Pushing Pakistan into a corner, what options Pakistan is left with but to retaliate and counter India. Pakistan is an obsession with India. This will destroy the region and its chances of doing well but can India understand that?
