In north India we have very strict rules to avoid inter marriage even by chance. all families have their gotra/mool (root) and gotra of last thre and seven generation of mother and father ( respect.) are counted before fixing any marriage. IMO ancient hindus foresaw the possible effects of interblood marriage.

This happens not only in Pakistan, but in all Muslm majority countries and everywhere where there are Muslims, including INDIA.

In Islam, it is permissible for cousins to marry.

The Royal British family used to marry their cousins, because they believed in the importance of royal blood.

I have seen children of cousins become successful doctors here in the U.S. and are more intelligent than any Gora doctor. Many live perfectly normal lives, only a minority suffer from congenital disorders but even some children whose parents are not cousins suffer from congenital disorders.

Sir marrying cousions is allowed in Islam so their is nothing stupid in it but we should not only marry among cousions mostly it is done to safe property from going outside family

1. Children of non-related couples have a 2-3% risk of birth defects, as opposed to first cousins having a 4-6% risk- Not a big difference-

2. Current studies indicate that cousin couples have a lower ratio of miscarriages -- perhaps because body chemistry of cousins is more similar.

3. 26 states allow first cousin marriages; most people can marry their cousin in the US.

4. No European country prohibits marriage between first cousins. It is also legal throughout Canada and Mexico to marry your cousin. The U.S. is the only western country with cousin marriage restrictions.
