what is your defence budget? what about the life time maintenance... and the weapon package etc.... which makes the Jet more costlier than the Basic cost... 64? are you kidding me? We ordered 272 Mki the cost keep going hike ... not coming down... think care fully my friend...

BD defence budget is 1% of BD GDP, which is $1.5BL. Indian defence budget is 2.7%. If we take the Def budget to ur level it becomes $4BL and its good enough.

MKI is something different.. It costs more because of hundreds of modification IAF imposed on them and also because of high level corruption.

BAF if orders Su-27SM2 (a rumor is there for a possible negotiation ongoing), they will probably go with very minor modification. They already have signed for $1BL weapons deal, what do you think those weapons are.. its AA, AS, ASh, SA Missiles, Canons, Artilaries and infantry weapons mainly..

BAF will go according to their requirements... Jets isn't any gadgets which gives a cool look... instead of going for 64 Su-27 you can buy a squadron Su-35 which gives you more teeth.... and easy to maintain instead large number old platforms....

SU-35 have PESA radar. Is it good?

. .
Su-35 is too expensive for BD as it comes to nearly 100 million dollar per plane.

Better to get the cheaper SU-30 variant.

The key question we should be asking is what is the future road map for Chinese indigenous engine (WS-10 and others) development, production and reliability after deployment.

If in 10-15 years, the Chinese are able to surpass the Russians in their engine technology, then we should start moving towards an all Chinese platform, starting now.

The other point is that our strategic threat mainly comes from Burma. India is a bigger threat, but currently we have no counter balance against this threat, the result is the current mess we have in political sphere, water sharing, trade and in all aspects of our relationship with this bigger neighbor.

Buying expensive toys can be justified only if we gain upper hand against Burma. Since it is not possible to gain upper hand against India, it is no use wasting money trying.

To counter the strategic threat from India, we need to build alliances and relationships with other countries, globally and regionally, from ASEAN+3 as well as from Muslim world. How much resources have Bangladesh allocated for this purpose? What is the plan, does anyone know?

How about Su-27SKM or Su-27SM2 instead of Su-30 variants. Which option will fulfill the BAF demand.? Cost conscious BAF will perhaps go for Chinese planes, finally. If so, it should choose Russian well devloped engines rather than the engines China is frantically trying to develop. Chinese engines have not reached maturity yet.

I don't know, 27 is getting old and most likely be useless after say 10-15 years. It also lacks the teeth. If we are really going for good fighters, its better to go for the better ones as we already got the stop gap F-7s

:lol::rofl::cheesy: are you on high.... buy F-35 then... which muslim world you are talking about? Arabs or Iranians? or pakistan or AF?

AESA is always better than PESA. Isn't it?

Dont compair Symphony with Apple

Loki is correct. The Rafale variant Radar is not powerful than SU-35 PESA....

Su27SM2 is not too old, it has some features of Su35BM

Yeah, a mid-life upgrade (MLU) out of an old Su-27 air frame. Why should BAF operate an old air frame? The SM3 on the other hand is a brand new one and maybe very costly too.

The operating costs with operating old platforms gets higher as time goes. It's simply not rational for a cash-strapped force like BAF to operate old twin-engined planes.

Better to go for the new Su-35 or Su-30 (if wallet allows). Anything old is simply a waste of money.

Besides, BAF cancelled the Su-27 deal which was part of the $1 billion loan from Russia. It never moved forward!
