He converted to Islam later. As for Hazrat Umar(ra), he was a righteous man, tried his best to be just. He was ruling under extremely difficult circumstances. His model of government is still looked as a great example and was revolutionary for that particular time, he would dress as a beggar at night to see how his people were living, he started the development of highways and small service stations in that time so that travels could rest in between journeys.

His era is gone, it shouldn't be brought back, sure we could copy some of his style of governance though.

3. He was infidel when he heard his sister reciting Quran so he went angry and drew sword to kill his sister for converting to Islam but when his sister refuse to leave Islam he asked her to recite what she was reciting and upon hearing the verses of Quran he was impressed and he went to Prophet (PBUH) and accepted Islam.

4. The Prophet (PBUH) did not leave any will for transfer of property or wordly things to his family hence as per Islamic law nothing was transferred .
