Afghanistan is a much tougher terrain and area then Yemen or Saudi arabia.

Nope, The south is a tough terrain, it's all mountains there, yet we crashed the Houthis in a record time while NATO still struggle in Afghanistan.

Northern Yemen is more mountainous and harder for regular armies to fight on while an advantage for rebels. Although KSA was not prepared to fight in such harsh and mountainous area, it managed to defeat them. As for now, there are special forces dedicated to fight in such areas, well trained and armed.

The terrain fought in looks like this. With extremely many valleys and wild/untouched areas. Same battlefield as Afghanistan and they fought in similar attitude even.

That's right. My point was just that the terrain was not by any means unfamiliar for many of the Saudi soldiers since large parts of Southern KSA has the same/similar mountain terrain. From what I remember many of the Saudi soldiers were also locals from Southern KSA that had a good knowledge of the area although obviously not all.

Anyway does not matter the Houthis were defeated badly by the RSA and Yemeni government.
