Before 1990's China is an isolated country, people of china have minimum idea of outer world and the changes that are taking place like Human rights, democracy etc...etc.......
Chinese people for centuries are made to obey a central authority, during the time of Sun Yet-Sen Democratic revolution took place over throwing the monarchy but because of internal problems Democracy never rooted in China, then Mao led a communist revolution and current CCP is like an imperial rule But the ruler comes from the family called CCP.

If you want to compare Xi with Bush Jr, why don't you pull up both of their resume for a comparison. Xi rose to power just like his prodecessor Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin. He got there by moving up the power ladder from the bottom every steps along the way. Xi started his political career in 1979 as a mere secretry at state concil office, then move on to various counties chief, then cities chief, then Municipals chief, then various provincials chief before he joined in the center of power circle. His promotions was not due to whose son he is althrough it helps, but to the competence of his governing. For Bush Jr's political career besides working on his daddy's presidential campaigns, his first government job is already the governor of Texas where Xi only got to be the acting governor of a province in 2002 after more than two decades of experience of running different level of government.

Also as for Xi being of the Princeling, all I can tell you is that before Xi became one of the member in poliburo most people in China never heard of his father Xi Zhongxun. There are lots more powerful figures in China with much more influences than he was when Xi Jinping came into the public's eyes. So if you think Xi's daughter would somehow become a successor to Xi just because she is the daughter of Xi, then be my guest. Actually I am even willing to bet you on this that this wouldn't happen. On the side note was the off springs of the paramount leader Deng Xiaoping in the political theater in China?
