Hamid Mir want Trial of Pakistan Army in Bangladesh

so basically its all India's fault. MMS should say sorry to both pakistan and bangladesh :)
India allowed safe passage because thats what expected from international community, I dont think they would have forgiven us if we allowed pak army to face hostile bangladeshi crowd or judge.
And as USA was on their side, you can forget any trial in international court.

India and AL definitely use this mythical figure as their political capital.

If any international court will not do it, Pakistan and Bangladesh can cooperate and do our own investigation to put this matter behind us and move forward with future relationship, once we defeat and remove from power the pro-India AL.

.
India looked after her long term interest which pretty much make sense IMO. Look this whole 71 issue is still haunting BD politics and socio economic fabric. AL is the major culprit here and I blame them the most. My above post can be termed as a r*zakar sympathising post by many BD members even those who don't like India. But the fact remain that there are a lot of fabrication regarding 71 which also happens. We can see Japan still doesn't accept the nanking massacre while any one questioning the mainstream version of holocaust in Europe ends up in jail.
the numbers might be inflated but even pakistanis admit there was systematic large scale massacre to force east pakistanis into submission. Its what most holocust deniers do, first they attack the number(which will always be inaccurate considering the circumstances) and then say, see these people are lying, may be they made up the whole massacre thing.

About Indian action then, India was facing a hostile USA and west, the war was over quickly because pakistanis surrendered(possibly because promise of safe passage). Any protracted war would have been risky for India.(involvement of USA)
That does not stop bangladesh from demanding justice in international court. Also quite a lot culprits are bangladeshis, and you have been incapable of jailing them after 40 years.

come on, admit it. There is no chance pakistanis will cooperate. So all you are doing is saving your face by blaming India.
Good luck with your pakistan-bangladesh bhai bhai thing... :)

If they do not cooperate, then the blame will remain with them. Regardless of what happens, I am confident that Pakistan and Bangladesh will enjoy better relations in the future, much better than India-Bangladesh, mainly because of the failure of Indian foreign policy for all neighbor nations, also because Pakistan can longer do us any harm from 1200 miles away while India can and is hurting us as she is sitting across the border.

Some non-combatant Bihari's were also victims of war crimes at the hand of Bengali's, so we have been incapable of bringing these war criminals to justice as well.

I say either lets move on or let us have an impartial, extensive & intensive investigation on this going through all of this before we can apologize to each other & yes I don't expect us to apologize without the Bangladeshi Government apologizing in turn for the thousands (some say hundreds of thousands) of Biharis, West-Pakistanis & other Pro-Pakistan elements butchered by the Mukti Bahini !

Pakistan has always wanted good relations with Bdsh, trust me all the times i was in Pakistan & kid i've only hear Bdsh as a brotherly country, but now the situation seems totally different, look at your country always there is some anti-pk news coming out from there, look at your govt who always keep demanding bu11$h1t apology without understanding that there is furor in Pakistan also...how mutki terrorist treat Pakistanis(Biharis, Bengalis, etc) in Bdsh & how your leaders used Pakistan like a tissue paper to get independance from india, not to mention the damage your leaders had done to TNT Pakistan ideology, even recently your PM & cricket team(who was supported by PCB when there was no support) refused to visit Pakistan & demanded apology...don't you think clapping is done with both hands...mate?

Pakistan is still ready to co-operate & has shown signs too but Bdsh is not serious at all, Pakistan has nothing to loose but Bdsh has alot to loose...you guys need to choose wisely...

What you have in Bangladesh as the political class is a bunch of loosers. I am sure you have similar situation in Pakistan. But in Bangladesh its worse, because using 1971, India got in and now we have a pro-India clan, that comes to power taking turns with the anti-India clan, both of whom are incompetent.

And to top it off, the pro-India clan will use 1971 as their political capital.

So we do not expect anything sensible from these govts. Perhaps sensible civil society orgs. in both countries can approach the UN and work with the UN to start an independent country neutral investigation.

.
Hah! Pathetic.

Forget what happened and move on. Instead of wasting the time on this, the BD and Pak governments need to focus on their own country and how to improve the situation there.

1971 topics have started appearing on the forum quite frequently. I think we should have one dedicated thread on the issue where everything should be posted and discussed.

This topic has been discussed in detail so much that perhaps a degree should be issued to contributing members.

Coming on topic a lot of things are still behind the scene and all facts are not known to the common people. What happened during the 1971 and immediately after the 1971 till 1974 when Mujib was killed needs to be evaluated. What was the difference between Mujib'e era and during the 1971 should also be evaluated. If this is what Bangladeshi's wanted then they got it.

No apology is coming so forget it.

The nation who killed it's own leader right after it's independence in 71, who didn't remain loyal to it's motherland Pakistan, Who conspired against it's motherland with India in 67 in Agartala... Why we should give apology to such unfaithful nation?

Have Bangladeshi people apologise for the killing of their leader? If not then why they are asking for apology from us?

just to let you know what ever they did i am not getting in to that, i am talking about what we did with them, it is really humiliating too read that our army was involved there in Rapes and killings it was worst than Indian occupied kashmir, i really support Pak Army but when its not right we should say, people here on PDF doesn't want to hear the bitter facts of Pak Army, they are untouchables here we as a nation should think whats right and whats not.

What happened after Dec. 16, 1971 in Bangladesh is not in any way related to Pakistan.

As for the apology, I think you should read this wiki article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh–Pakistan_relations

I could not find any where in this wiki article that Bangladesh govt. has formally asked for an apology to Pakistan, may be someone can provide a source if any. Instead I see only Pakistan parliament members who are supporting this:
In 1985, President Ziaul Haq visited the Bangaldeshi war memorial, and said "Your heroes are our heroes."[9] Bangladeshi president Erhsad visited Islamabad in 1986.[10] In 1998, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Pakistan.[9] In July 2002, Pakistani General Pervez Musharraf also visited the war memorial and said "Your brothers and sisters in Pakistan share the pain of the events of 1971."[9]
In December 2012, several Pakistani members of Parliament sought a Parliamentary resolution that would apologize to Bangladesh for the 1971 atrocities. This initiative was also supported by Hamid Mir.[8]

I do not claim to know history better than you, but what I found is that East Pakistan remained loyal to Pakistan, a state they created together with other Pakistani's out of British India, till the night their own army, trained and fed using their tax Rupee, attacked and started killing their own people.

Agartala conspiracy was a true case, sponsored by RAW, but it was a small minor case, that involved no big political leaders of Awami League, certainly not Sheikh Mujib. Mujib was getting too powerful with his 6 point movement for autonomy and Ayub Khan wanted to frame him and thus politically destroy him falsely implicating him with the Agartala case, where he was not involved. Unfortunately it backfired, as Bhasani started his 11 point mass movement and successfully freed him. Instead, Mujib came out more popular than ever and won 1970 election. To avoid handing over power, Yahya and other Generals decided to teach Bengali's a "lesson". Please read this thread for the details, specially the last few pages, you will see how my position changes as I find new details from different credible sources:
http://www.defence.pk/forums/bangla...cy-confession-what-does-mean-our-history.html

As for why Mujib was killed, it is because he betrayed Bangladeshi's after taking over power in 1971, but that has nothing to do with Pakistan. I have started looking at this phase of his life here in these threads:
