I know that India's education level is high, there are many Chinese students studying in India.
You better tell these students to stop wasting money. If these Chinese students studying in India want to go to the west to work, their Indian degree is equivalent to a Jr. high school degree over here. IT's not accepted. I have Indian MBA making less than me and lower level than me.

MBA from Tsinghua Uni guarantees one million yuan per year at least....

I was not alone, I had competition.
I have been all those cities, especially Changzhou. My gf's uncle was one of the designing engineers of 'China Dinosaurs Park', so entry was free. :p:

My gf was Chinese.
I'm in India at the moment, but will be returning to china in jan.
I spend a year in Hefei, before shifting to Jiangsu. Spend most of my time in Zhenjiang and Nanjing.

China seeks to fund India’s first rail university, wants say in curriculum

As of now, the Railways is struggling with some teething trouble in its quest to set up the first university.

China has proposed to co-fund India’s first Railway university and handhold the Indian Railways as it takes baby steps in making the centre for learning a reality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently promised to set up four such universities in the country, and the government is set to start work on the first one.

After a formal visit to three universities in China last month — Beijing Jiaotong University, Tongji University and Southwest Jiaotong University — Railways Ministry officials submitted a report saying that China has offered its cooperation.

China’s National Railway Administration told the Indian delegation that apart from co-funding between Chinese Railway universities and the Indian Railways, they are interested in joint development of curriculum, design of the university campus and facilities, student and teacher exchange programmes, and offering latest learning technologies to India. The course design could also be such that one could pursue a dual academic degree, of which one part could be completed in India and the other part in one of the Chinese universities. “These programmes are to be collaborated at the graduate level, Masters level as well as the doctorate level,” said a senior government official.

As of now, the Railways is struggling with some teething trouble in its quest to set up the first university. EdCIL India, a PSU under the HRD Ministry, has asked for around Rs 60 lakh from the Railways to make a detailed project report, including drafting a bill required for the creation of the university. Taken aback by the steep quote to make just a report, the Railways has put it up for discussion before an internal high-level committee. An inter-ministerial dialogue is also expected on this.

The choice of location for the university, sources said, has been left with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, who will take the decision with the help of the Railway Board. The only preference is the presence of an airport nearby so that movement of visiting faculty and others associated with the university does not become a problem.

The Railway university will teach courses on management, finance as well as specialised engineering courses. Although it will be run by the Indian Railways, there will be no job guarantee for graduates, who will have to go through the established competitive processes — a subject that has been discussed internally, sources said.

As of now, IIT Kharagpur has been roped in to start a railway engineering course in collaboration with the Railways. Chinese universities have also evinced interest to participate by way of visiting faculty and other forms of collaboration.

Seeking China’s help on this was a conscious decision because China started specialised railway-related institutes way back in the late 19th Century. Ever since then, big universities in China have rolled out railway-specific technical as well as non-technical courses.

China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), Chinese biggest high speed train manufacturer, has said that its $63.4 million first joint venture (JV) plant in India for repairing and manufacturing the railway locomotive engines has begun its operations.

CRRC, a state-owned firm, is the first international company to set up an assembly line for making rail transportation equipment in the country after PM Narendra Modi launched his ambitious scheme of 'Make in India' in 2014, CRCC said in a statement.

The JV is named CRRC Pioneer (India) Electric Co Ltd and located in the state of Haryana. The manufacturing unit was established with an investment of $63.4 million and the Chinese company holds a majority share of 51 percent, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

At its India plant, the company will manufacture and repair railway locomotive engines.

The firm will also offer technology support to the country’s railway system and provide electric transmission systems to wind power generation, oil drilling and mining equipment manufacturing in India, said the report.

This is first big investment from China in the Indian Railways after the two countries had discussed a multi-pronged cooperation for participation from China for modernising India’s railway systems.

Although engineers of Indian Railway are getting trained in China in the field of heavy hauling, the country is also collaborating with India to establish a railway university on similar lines to the one it set up.

In addition to the high speed train, both the countries have an agreement to cooperate in identifying the technical inputs needed to enhance speed on the prevailing railway Chennai to Mysore line.

Yu Weiping, Vice President, CRRC said that the new facility will generate jobs and tax revenue for the local populace and help in improving the infrastructure.

It will also advance cooperation in local equipment manufacturing and industrial capacity, he added.

CRRC has established the first railway plant in South Asia. This is the first time that aChinese transit equipment company has used Indian manufacturing locally.

CRRC-Pioneer (India) Electric Company, jointly established by China’s CRRC YongjiElectric Company and India’s Pioneer Trading Company, started operations in theHaliyana Bawo Industrial Park on August 20. The industrial park is located between NewDelhi and Mumbai. China Railway made the announcement yesterday. China IndustrialEconomy News believes that the combination of the China-brand and Indianmanufacturing is a new model for China’s high-speed rail export strategy.

The company will primarily be used to produce and maintain electric rail machinery, butwill also provide technical support for India’s railways, as well as electric drive systems foroil drilling, wind power generation, and mining equipment. India is second only to China interms of population size. India’s largest seaport and western city, the city of Mumbai, is thecountry’s most populated area, and one of the most populous cities in the world. Railway isa key means of transportation in India, so the market has great potential. Through thejoint venture, the advantages of China’s advanced rail technology coupled with theadvantages of Pioneer’s market resources and expansion, India’s rail industry will receivebetter after-sales services and technical support, and the venture will double the size ofthis new economic growth point.

Its an almost 2 year old news, so i'm not sure if Chinese offer still stands, but if there is a scope for Sino Indian Co-operation on rail Academia, it is a very welcome step. Both countries are expanding their Railways (China High Speed Lines) and India (High axle load Freight exclusive lines) like no other country in world. Given the kind of growth that is expected, it is definitely going to put pressure on existing technologies (Rail civil infra, Electrification and traction distribution, Signalling and Train Protection and off course rail vehicles) and newer, better and more sustainable technology would be required.
Its only logical that the demands of both nations will define what solutions come up and in this respect a dedicated academic institute, will serve the purpose a great deal.
Chinese demand for addition of courses and area of research to suit its unique needs, therefore should be a part of academic course structure.

Good pickup. The offer to setup the Railway University is excellent but it is two years old.

A lot of water has flowed under the bridge and the offer may not stand now.

Let's hope for the best for India in her quest to modernize her railway system.

Universities in U.S. give exam considerable weight in recruitment of Chinese applicants

The gaokao, China's national college entrance exam, is winning more recognition as a way for universities overseas to evaluate Chinese students, recruiting officers said.

Stanley Nel, vice-president of international relations at the University of San Francisco in the United States, who is responsible for the university's admissions from China, said they have had several inquiries from U.S. universities about how to recruit Chinese students on the basis of their gaokao scores.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language and the Scholastic Aptitude Test have long been two musts for students from other countries, including China, to apply to study in the U.S..

USF, a private university in California, started a pilot program to accept Chinese students based on their gaokao scores in 2015.

The idea came from USF President Paul Fitzgerald's belief that standardized tests like the SAT are not very good predictors of how well students will do at the university.

"We are aware of the many criticisms that have been made of the gaokao, but it has the advantage of being what educational experts call a 'criterion-referenced' exam: It tests whether students are able to master a given body of knowledge, as well as their ability to work hard and consistently," he said.

Currently, at least four higher education institutions in the U.S. are recruiting Chinese students based on their gaokao performances. The Illinois Institute of Technology, a private institution in Chicago, started the practice first, in 2009.

Outside the U.S., countries including Spain, Italy, Singapore, France and Australia also recognize gaokao scores.

More than 200 students from China requested an interview with USF last year. Seventy-four of them were selected for a follow-up interview, 44 received offers and 20 accepted the invitation and joined USF for the 2015 fall semester.

Students admitted in this way have done "exceptionally well" in the past academic year, Nel added.

"The average GPA for all gaokao students is about 3.5 out of 4. For all other students-American and non-gaokao international students-the average GPA is 3.2," he said.

Zhu Zihao, who gained admission in computer sciences at USF in 2015 through the program and performed well in his first academic year, said that students who had experience with China's gaokao usually have a solid foundation and good habits in acquiring knowledge, which help them excel in studies.

Nel said their experience showed that what they suspected is true: Students admitted through China's gaokao are not only smart but extremely conscientious and hardworking."

"This year we hope to recruit about 50 students in this way, and even more in years to come," he said.
