Meerut: A government doctor received fracture in his hand in a brutal attack by residents of his upscale society in Meerut who wanted him to vacate his house over fear that he may “spread” novel coronavirus in the colony.
Dr Prashant Bhatnagar is assistant professor at community medicine in Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College.
He said, “I have been living in Sector 6 of Shastri Nagar area in Meerut for the last seven years with my family. However, now, these people fear that doctors living in the locality might end up infecting them with coronavirus. The colony residents started forcing me to vacate the house here. When I protested, they thrashed me leading to a fracture in my right hand.”
An FIR has been filed against three persons, RS Yadav, Yaduveer and Jugal Sahni under IPC sections 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). - No NSA against Hindu fundoos.

Dr Bhatnagar further said, “I am not even posted in the Covid-19 ward. So locals should keep their doubts aside and not thrash the medical staff.”
Meerut police had a different version to offer.
Superintendent of police (city) Akhilesh Narayan Singh said, “The altercation happened over the placement of a guard cabin outside the doctor’s house. The cabin is put outside different houses from time to time. But the doctor protested against its placement outside his house as it blocked his car parking. He was hurt in the altercation and an FIR has been filed in the matter.”

Were these people not pursued by the Police and punished, which would makes us embarrassed ? Is a functioning law and order society an embarrassment ? Do you want me to post similar problems in Pakistan ? Also, initial reports might not have the accused name revealed right-away. You should look for followup news on it.

We don't blame one particular community for spread of virus
When one single incident is the source of nearly 29% of all Covid cases, it will get disproportionate attention too. Too bad, it was from one religion. Any other community would have got similar bashing. Should have been more responsible and quicker in condemning such things to set an example.

Check this follow up report. It clearly mentions the name. The ANI report was probably the first update. @Syed Hammad Ahmed Its really easy to cherry pick and create a narrative. Look at the whole picture sometimes.

Did they mention the name in the tweet?
Did you not understand what I said. The follow up reports on the incident came about 3-4 hrs later with much more details. Curse them for not knowing all the details on a case initially. Stop making a big deal out of nothing. I would have bashed them too if no one mentioned the details later on too, but thats not the case. There are hundreds of cases of media not disclosing names of Hindus killed by muslims. You dont see me crying Hinduphobia about it.
