Goodbye GPS! India Desi Navigation System IRNSS Is Revolutionary

Firstly,IRNSS is not supposed to replace GPS or GLONASS,but complement them. So that on the future, incase the sh!t hits the fan,we won't be left out in the dark.

The receivers that can use the both are on their way. Currently some GPS receivers (L5 capable ones) can already receive IRNSS signals.

The entire system will take atleast 3-5 years to be fully mature and by that time we will have dedicated IRNSS receivers as well as GPS-IRNSS inter operable receivers (in all bands)

You are wrong. IRNSS is designed to be a stand alone standard positioning service signal. It provides signal for both military and civilian use.

However IRNSS also transmits offset between IRNSS-GPS and IRNSS-GLONASS and hence can be used in conjunction with other signals.

GPS currently transmits in L1 and L2 band. IRNSS transmits in L5 and S band. However the signal is designed to be compatible with GPS receivers when they have L5 compatible antennas. .

Yet DRDO developed a receiver that can receive all 3 (GPS, GAGAN, GLONASS) in a 17 gram package...and a Desi firm manufactures it.

You are confusing modulation and channel access.

GLONASS is the only system that uses FDMA compared to CDMA (GPS, galileo, beidou), but they are quickly modernizing to CDMA now with the new satellite launches that transmit in both standards....promoting better interopability with CDMA based receivers (among other advantages that CDMA posseses). As a result FDMA GLONASS receivers are a niche thing found mostly in Russia.

They are the one's who will be developing the IRNSS receivers for military applications in the future.

I already told you GLONASS used FDMA. You think I don't konw what FDMA and CDMA is ? :P
 
High growth rate is essential and it will happen but the high growth rate is not a solution for a military threat. Kuwait was the richest country before Saddam invaded it because Kuwait had virtually no defence. If india is going to use for military purpose, which it will, then it is military support system and China and Pakistan look at this the same way and perhaps we even don't need to get anti-satellite missiles, China may very well be planning to use it before it becomes dangerous.

There are ways to defend. A rich country always manages to defend itself. Kuwait is still there, while Saddam found himself on the tighter end of the rope.
 
As far as receivers are concerned then civllian version of IRNSS and GPS would be compatible so that if you buy a civilian GPS receiver it would work with IRNSS. Infact there is a UN committee to have this compatibility between GPS, IRNSS(India), Galileo (Europe), compass(china), and a Japanese one.

Nope. Current GPS receivers do not work in L5 or S band. They work on L1 / L2 band. They will in the future and that is what I am talking about.

It seems you cant deal with the new navigation development of India .Dont worry .
Ours way is unique .
Military would be already began theiur preparation for accepting new navigation technology for their war machine .
And within one year they would operationlise that .You can do what ever you want .
But our development is for our nation .

You are the one saying:

IRNSS uses BPSK and RHCP which is similar to GPS. But GLONAS uses FDMA so separate receivers are required for both.

As though BPSK and RHCP (modulation, polarization) are restricted only to one particular type of channel access method. They are not the reasons for different receivers for FDMA and CDMA.

GLONASS uses FDMA signal, BPSK modulation, in L1, L2 and L3 Band. It has a C/A code for civilian use and a Pcode for Military use.

GPS uses CDMA signal, BPSK modulation, BOC for offset correction, in L1 and L2 band and later in L5 band.

IRNSS uses CDMA singal, BPSK modulatioin, BOC for offset, in L5 and S band with RHCP vector.

Does that make you happy ?

If you know anything about RF design you will realize that signal modulation type and polarization determines the antenna design and subsequent receiver design. I did not want to go into detail that time hence the quick reply.

Imao. Pakistan cant make 10 Km range SAM & you dream about bringing down Indian satellite located in Geostationary orbit of 35000 KM moving at 3.07 km/s

china will need 10 yrs of R&D to reach there.

No other country fights your war:)

Meanwhile, India currently have capacity to bring down <1000 KM polar orbit satellite. China India are responsible power. They are not going to attack each other space assets

Don't ever under estimate your enemies...maybe they are already working (Pakistan had been working on GSLV but due to funding it is delayed) and China I believe is already working on man mission to Moon so I guess now you got updated..(it is always good to spare few min from cartoon network and disney channel :rofl:). If you know the orbital mechanics and atmospheric height, you will know that beyond 400 km, the rocket needs much less fuel and beyond 800 km small thrusters can do the trick.

There is no technology or system permanently superior, only one thing is constant system-antisystem and it keeps repeating infinitely over human life scale.
 
Hitting a target so small as a satellite in a geostationary orbit ? Ohh man...I like this guy.

GSLV are 30 times heavier than SLV-3. Shaheen Is 2 stage rocket engine which cant launch a satellite in earth orbit
