What's new

German paper publishes, "in error", an anti-Semitic cartoon - apologizes!

generalising is when you indirectly say that muslims are on killing spree because the paper insulted there religion, in the same way i can generalise that jews kill in the name of god too, which they are doing in palestine?

so essentially there should be no difference at all

my point is, neither the killers in paris represent islam, nor the jews in israel on killing spree against palestinians represent the jewish community entirely
Here, we are talking about the paris incident specifically. So, the mention was made. That doesnot equate to me generalizing all muslims as killers. In short.... Who were the paris attackers? Muslims. What did they do? They killed. What will it make them? Killers. This is all I have said.

Well,so much for freedom of speech - but what's funny is that the German newspaper couldn't find a real Charlie Hebdo cartoon insulting Jews. The question is that If they had published one of the real cartoons, would they still have to apologize? I mean, it wouldn't be any less offensive (considering what they draw about Muslims).

Another thing I like is the other cartoonist's title - instead of ''freedom of speech guardian'' like Charlie Hebdo, his title is ''anti-Semitic illustrator'' - despite the fact that he does the exact same thing as Charlie Hebdo.
One of them, however, was a fake, showing a cartoon drawn by the anti-Semitic illustrator Joe le Corbeau.
Now, I've looked through his FB profile - and there's nothing too offensive or ''too anti-Semitic'' as compared to Charlie Hebdo - so why the double standard? Why is he not a guardian of freedom of speech like Charlie is?

Unless that kind of extra-offensive stuff gets lost in translation, since I don't speak French and have to trust our beloved google translate here.

What? So that's it? You are free to insult "feelings" and "sentiments" of 1.6 billion Muslims but not 14 million Jews? Is this the practical definition of Western 'freedom of speech' aka. hypocrisy and double-standards? Well, good luck with that! :D

As U can see when this Holocaust cartoon was published in France no Jew even cared, not talking about murdering.

As for Germany Holocaust is much more sensitive issue than France and they apologized by their own initiative.

Arey Bhai, there is a reason no one cares when it comes to offending Muslims. It is due to our own stupidity, whereever muslims go we leave behind a trail of destruction. Compare that with the Jews, they are usually productive members of society and usually contribute to the host society. What do we do? Make gangs, engage in fraud, grooming gangs, terrorism etc. We need to look at ourselves first and see that we are the problem. The world only insults us because we insult ourselves with our stupid and animal like actions. For example, if you antagonise the Jews, some random retard is not going to get up and start killing innocent people, instead they'll try and corner you through their political and economic might.

What do we have except from pound shop mullahs and their brainwashed followers?

yeah thats exactly the point?

you say the killers were muslims, but i don't understand why you label their religion here? why their ethnicity, their nationality also don't get discussed?

the police man who they killed was also a muslim

jews do kill in the name of god, so how are you so sure that attacking judaism wont invite attack from the jews?

Let's not lose sight of the bigger picture, here. Something was published, the mocked group complained, the publisher apologized. Please don't tell me that you see that as equivalent to: something was published, the mocked group slaughters the publishers, and then goes on to slaughter an entirely different and unrelated group to the publication.

I hope you, of all people, can see the difference. I expect far less of most of the other PDF denizens, but I hold you to a higher standard.

The newspaper apologized because the cartoon was not a Charlie Hebdo cover. They did not apologize because it was anti-Semitic. Read the article properly.

And what @Syed.Ali.Haider said was right. It is unreasonable to call out press outlets especially cartoons and tabloids for omission. Freedom of speech only means they are free to criticize whoever they want by their editorial policy. They need not distribute their rants and criticisms among all communities.

And such rants and responses only prove that the majority here are just looking for imagined outrages to be offended about without sufficient reasons, which only makes them look even worse.

@Norwegian Hmmm after some time you're back? Your news regarding NA 122 was correct more than 30,000 votes in which counterfoils without signature and stamp were found

. . .
The cartoon faces of Islamic prophet and of the Jew are same. It was surely done on purpose, probably to see the reaction, but they did not need to issue any apologies to the Jews. However, @Norwegian, what shall be noted is that whether apologies or not, the cartoonists are not in danger of losing their lives because of that Jewish cartoon.

Berliner Zeitung meant to quote from one magazine and by mistake quoted from another. A correction/apology in such cases is normal and expected media conduct.
